Alternative: 18 DAVE MATTHEWS BAND Funny The Way It Is RCA/RMG 2009 721 759 -38 It's over!  Still a really nice success. Alternative is open to them now, and they have much more "alternative" songs on the album that should be able to do even better. VERY happy how this song did!! |

I don't see how this is that unusual to chart on alternative. My alt station isn't hipster or college kid-oriented at all and they still spin the 90s DMB hits.
Still, I think DMB should focus on hitting Hot AC and AAA.

^Yeah IMO kinda depends on the city...some markets have Alternatives that are basically Active Rock so they wouldn't touch DMB - but I think if there's no big Triple A station the Alt. station tends to be more DMB-style (at least during the day) - when I lived in Charlotte the Alternative station was almost Hot AC (think it still is)

There were days when DMB were basically automatic top 10s on Hot AC with everything they did. Those days were back in 2001-2002.

Well, I'd like to see it get inside the top 20 (and that way it can at least get a week on AT20...) but HAC is just so much the new CHR these days and it's sad to say that they've moved onto different artists.
Realistically, other than Rob Thomas and Gwen Stefani, what other big-time CHR and HAC acts from the 90s can still go top 10 on Hot AC?

It's been almost ten years though...most 90s acts aren't still comin out with quality material (or have disbanded) DMB bein one big exception ;D Naw...this is just a track similar to I Did It, Don't Drink The Water, Tripping Billies, etc. IMO (too Alternative for a lot of Hot ACs) Actually almost all his Top 10 HAC hits I think have been second singles (the first released were all kinda Alternative-sounding) |
