Ke$ha took the world by storm in 2010 with her made-for-partying electronic dance tunes. This time around, she's looking to make a "cock rock" album. Talk about interesting!

I'm so excited for her! Blow was such an underrated song. It had potential to be bigger than WRWWR

If her cock rock tunes are as good as her acoustic rock, then I'm all for it.

So basically she is trying to join the Pop/Rock group ?
I don't think her voice can handle it though... We'll see. Very excited to hear new music.

The rooster has come to snuff me... So basically she is trying to join the Pop/Rock group ? I don't think her voice can handle it though... We'll see. Very excited to hear new music. Cock rock would suggest a more heavy sound than pop-rock. And her voice is actually very nice imo.

I remember reading that Kesha told Dr. Luke she adamently did NOT want guitars featured on her first album. I wonder if she's breaking down those walls this time around. I hope not, only bc we have no many pop/rock dolls out now and her style seems so unique. Then again, it has been almost 2 1/2 years, so her style would need to have evolved somehow.
With that said, I'm very curious to hear what she has to offer. She is supposedly reinventing pop music with this album... one could argue "again", with Tik Tok being the forfront of it's own "revolution"

I mean, I love her and can't wait for her material, but let's not get carried away and say she reinvented pop music. Tik Tok was good but by no means did it change popular culture or music. Bad Romance was out around the same time and that had a much bigger impact.

But "Bad Romance" sounded like it could have come out in early 2009, and didn't set the tone for the next two years the way that "Tik Tok" did.

I disagree. tell me what impact/tone did she set? If you're talking about electronic pop/partying theme/talk singing, GaGa already did that with The Fame and The Black Eyed Peas already did that with Monkey Business and definitely did that with The E.N.D. AND made a bigger impact culturally and sales wise. Boom Boom Pow kicked it off and the Number 1 song across the world aka I Gotta Feeling continued to revolutionize music. Not Tik Tok

"Boom Boom Pow" and "I Gotta Feeling" did not kickstart any type of movement, they simply capitalized on the sound that was already dominating radio at that time. the songs were hardly dance in the way that "Tik Tok" and the songs that followed have been.
And no way were they bigger culturally than "Tik Tok."

If anything, IGF is more dancey, due to the faster BPM and IGF is the most digitally downloaded song of all time selling around 13 million in 2009 alone. Tik Tok came into the general public in 2010 and has sold 12 million world wide. sales alone IGF is bigger. IGF was also on top for a whopping 14 consecutive weeks while Tik Tok was at the summit for 9 weeks. Her debut is very comparable to GaGa's debut which was back in 2007 where the content matter/the musical stylings of the song with talk singing/dance music has already been done with Just Dance. Also, the BEP have Fergie where she raps and sings before and better than Ke$ha. I find it so funny that you think Ke$ha revolutionized pop music when her predecessors have already done it bigger AND better.

I think you're missing my point. I'm not talking about downloads, chart runs or weeks on top. I'm talking about musical elements and cultural impact.

I don't really think I am, but pray tell...what make you think Tik Tok such a cultural phenomenon where it made such a big impact on pop culture???

Well if you're not missing my point, then you must be ignoring it. Lol. What I have been saying all along is that "Tik Tok" set the tone for pop radio's direction over the next two years. It was the first hardcore electronic/dance tune to have huge mainstream success, and look what came after it: that type of dance music has been big on the charts, and even veteran artists like Britney Spears have incorporated these elements into their music. Culturally, the song may or may not have had that same impact, but that was never my point to begin with. I do think that it had a bigger cultural impact than either of those BEP singles, though

She was not the first with the drunk/party songs. And I totally agree with Edge. Black Eyed Peas and Gaga started the whole dance movement not Kesha. And she won't sound good on pop rock or anything heavier then that. I mean Britney can even sing better then Kesha. And I'm laughing so hard when one of you guys said she has a unique style !! So being slutty and wasted is a style now ? Good to know. ETA : Tik Tok is hardcore electronic ?? Really

Are you kidding me with these disgusting BLASPHEMOUS lies? This might be the one time BRiTNASTY and I would agree but Britney was AND is the forerunning of pop music. Blackout (released in 2007 is an electropop and dance album, which incorporates elements of several musical genres such as funk, Euro disco and dubstep. The album may not have done great but it was CRITICALLY acclaimed and since we're talking about impact, acclaim is all we need. And since you'll fight back with mainstream success, I'll bring up Lady GaGa and The Fame (released in 2008). The Fame is a dance-pop and synthpop album that has influences of glam rock music from the 1980s. Both Blackout and The Fame outsold Animal by at least 3 time WW so technically, Blackout did pretty well. I'm not hating on Ke$ha cuz I do love her but don't you go and try to convince me or anyone else that she had more of an impact on electro/dance pop music than Britney or GaGa. Cuz that would deserve nothing but a straight up WTF.

First of all, if you disagree with me that's fine but don't accuse me of blasphemy and lies. I never said Britney wasn't recording electro music before Kesha, I said Kesha started the TREND of hardcore dance music dominating pop radio. Britney may have been the first to do it but she didn't start jack shit. Her album was out in 2007 and radio didn't shift to that environment until 2010....when none other than Tik Tok kicked off the party. Britney has nothing to do with this.
As for the Tik Tok/I Gotta Feeling argument, here's another comparison: which song from 2007 had the bigger impact, Paper Planes or The Way I Are? Once again, chart runs do not always determine cultural relevance.

I can't at you blatantly ignoring Lady GaGa, whom you still use and listen to. Poker Face was her most iconic hit pre Bad Romance and THAT set the standard for dance pop aka the current music trend. I'll say this again. Ke$ha did not start jacksquat. She just happened to blow up when the trend was already getting big. She was an opportunistic artist with a few medicore hits but will not be known for anything but for brushing her teeth with a bottle of jack, throwing up glitter through every orifice and wearing a garbage bag to an awards show.

LOL how did this become an announcement? Anyway, the dance/pop trend started coming out around 2007-2008 with songs like "Don't Stop The Music", "Gimme More", "The Way I Are", etc. But it didn't start becoming a HUGE thing on top 40 until songs like "Poker Face", "Tik Tok", and, for some reason, "I Gotta Feeling".
