Hopefully this one will be more appealing. Speak Now has grown on me but it's a tad too sing-alongish for my taste. Mine and Innocent have been amazing.

Taylor is probably tired. They needed to give her a rest before forcing another album out of her for the fall season.

She's apologizing to someone. This sounds better than Speak Now imo

K I LOVE THIS NOW
Lyrics:
(Verse 1)
I’m so glad you made time to see me How’s life, tell me how’s your family I haven’t seen them in awhile You’ve been good, busier than ever Small talk, work and the weather Your guard is up and I know why Because the last time you saw me is still burned in the back of your mind You gave me roses, and I left them there to die
(CHORUS)
So this is me swallowing my pride Standing in front of you saying I’m sorry for that night And I go back to December all the time It turns out freedom ain’t nothing but missing you Wishing I’d realized what I had when you were mine I’d go back to December turn around and make it all right. I’d go back to December all the time.
(VERSE 2)
These days, I haven’t been sleeping Staying up late playing back myself leaving When you’re birthday passed, and I didn’t call And I think about summer all the beautiful times I watched you laughing from the passenger side, and I realized I loved you in the fall And then the cold came, the dark days when fear crept into my mind You gave me all your love, and all I gave you was goodbye
(CHORUS)
So this is me swallowing my pride Standing in front of you saying I’m sorry for that night And I go back to December all the time It turns out freedom ain’t nothing but missing you Wishing I’d realized what I had when you were mine I’d go back to December turn around and change my own mind I’d go back to December all the time
(BRIDGE)
I miss your tan skin, Your sweet smile, So good to me, so right And how you held me in your arms that September night The first time you ever saw me cry Maybe this is wishful thinking, Probably myself dreaming, (?) But if you loved again, I swear I’d love you right I’d go back in time and change it, but I can’t So if the chain is on your door, I understand
(CHORUS)
But this is me swallowing my pride Standing in front of you saying I’m sorry for that night And I go back to December all the time It turns out freedom ain’t nothing but missing you Wishing I’d realized what I had when you were mine I’d go back to December turn around and make it all right I’d go back to December turn around and change my own mind I’d go back to December all the time. All the time.

I really like the production here especially the electrical guitar parts and the string arrangements. Structurely, I also love how the layers come in on the first verse, and the breakdown with the strings and drums at the end of the bridge The melody could be better. I hear some good parts. But some awkwardness too. ------------------- I’m so glad you made time to see me How’s life, tell me how’s your familyThis is great I haven’t seen them in awhile You’ve been good, busier than everEhh, kills the movement. So this is me swallowing my pride Standing in front of you saying I’m sorry for that nightThe chorus is a little too verbose and almost chant like, but I like the melody at the end of her phrases like the "That night" part ------------------------- Overall, it's an okay song. The production and chords are great. If they could just adjust the melody, it would be great overall. But for what we have right now, it's not too shabby, and I'd want to listen to it again. It' better than Innocent at least and maybe on par with Speak Now.

They are writing articles about this already www.examiner.com/taylor-swift-in-national/taylor-fans-rush-to-download-back-to-december-reviewTaylor fans rush to download "Back to December"Taylor Swift has released another song from her highly anticipated album, Speak Now. Fans rushed to Itunes on October 11th, to buy Back to December as soon as it became available for purchase. The overall response? That it is "amazing" and that "it's definitely about Taylor Lautner." Swift has neither confirmed nor denied that the song is about Lautner, but the lyrics of the song and the fact that Swift has admitted that this is the first time she's apologized to someone does make is appear that the fans are right. The song has a slower, softer melody then both Mine and Speak Now. You can hear the emotion in Swift's voice when she sings the lines, "Your guard is up and I know why. Because the last time you saw me is still burned in the back of your mind. You gave me roses, and I left them there to die." And it's obvious that Taylor is sincerely apologizing with the first line in the chorus when she sings, "So this is me swallowing my pride standing in front of you saying I’m sorry for that night. And I go back to December all the time." This is sure to be another mega hit from Taylor, judging by the tweets and blog posts coming from her fans. She has also proved that she has grown and matured not only as a songwriter, but as a vocalist as well. In two weeks, the album will be out and it's a guarantee that Swift will shoot straight to the top. Monday, October 18th, another song entitled Mean will be released to Itunes.

I think this is actually interesting on Taylor's part lyrically. It seems like in a lot of her songs she is always being wronged by bad boys who ignore her or cheat on her or evil bimbos who want her man. Not that she's playing the role of victim necessarily, but she does seem to write from the role of the person being wronged alot. Does this song show that she's growing maybe in admitting that maybe she has flaws too? Or has she really been flawless in being the more right party in her past relationships until now? And if she has, what caused this? It seems like she hooked up with Lautner at the peak of her last era. Did the fame get to her head for a second and maybe she lost her ground even if for a bit? Or was it due to her schedule and taking him for granted? Or something else?

This is so shoddy lyrically I don't think I can get up the courage to actually listen to it.
ETA: Talk about a convoluted chorus.

Kanye reference?
So good to me, so right And how you held me in your arms that September night The first time you ever saw me cry
Or do I just have Yeezy on the brain?

I saw that as Taylor being held in Kanye's arms at first like you wanted to see them together. Well, you know what they say about boys picking on girls. Maybe Kanye's got a crush

Lyrical masterpiece (for Taylor's standards at least). This is a completely different style of songwriting for her and I really love the lyrics. I'm so glad she took a different angle at songwriting in this song at least.
I really love the 2nd verse and this line in particular: "You gave me all your love, and all I gave you was goodbye."
Easily my favorite song I've heard from the new album so far!
