LL Cool J said there are some shocks for the big awards. Hopefully that means DMB is nominated.

RE it's alright. i already know they will be nominated for at least 3 awards and probably 5 and then 6 if you include AOTY

Well, let's see what happens tonight. I'm sure they could possibly get rock awards. But AOTY?
We'll see

One of the administrators from the DMB forums who has done interviews with the band and reveals a lot of inside info said they were nominated for AOTY although he has been wrong about things before he typically isnt. either way, they are going to get rock album, song, performance, etc.

I can understand people having DMB scoops, but this? This is even beyond them.

well he isn't just going to lie. not saying i believe it either, but he wouldn't just point blank lie to thousands of people.
no publications in their predictions even included DMB and I am wondering if that is because they have never gotten big awards before like rock acts Green Day & U2 (who are always menetioned) and i know that sales isn't everything BUT
DMB, GD and U2 have all sold about the same.
U2 released in March and is 1.1 million DMB in june and is 940K Green Day in May and are in the 800 range
plus reviews for all of the albums were around the same. Pretty decent for all 3.
so I think compared to U2 and GD, DMB should have a fair shot
plus, Dave has done some Grammy stuff for the academy and while it doesnt always mean big nominations, most of the time it does. so we'll see

But if nobody is mentioning them, then something is telling. And they are not those random singer-songwriters who people miss either, they are too high profile for that.
I think you feel they may deserve it because they sold close to U2 and GD. But in a pragmatic sense, they would probably choose those two before DMB.

It was one of the biggest shocks in the AOTY category ever.

It was one of the biggest shocks in the AOTY category ever. Well, yes that was shocking. But at the same time, there is always one R&B nominee. And frankly speaking, there was no one else that year If they had to pick one rock nominee, they'd pick GD or U2 first.

Says who? No one was buzzing about GD this year. They opened poorly, had average singles and barely sold anything.
DMB opened huge, had average singles and sold almost 200k more than GD plus had a huge summer tour and huge promotions and events all year
Many U2 fans said the U2 album was very weak and I agree that it is one of their worst efforts. If it was there album from 2002 All that you cant leavebehind or whatever or the 2004 Atomic Bomb then i would think it would be tough since those albums were fantastic.

GD had lots of buzz. It was their big comeback after AI. They performed on the VMAs and AMAs even they didn't have that big of a year. I think that's pretty telling.
DMB has never had the buzz that U2 and GD had. The thing is they need one really crossover single to be undeniably big. Then they may have a better chance

GD had no buzz. Playing on VMA and AMA mean nothing LOL
DMB has had plenty of buzz more than GD and U2. Maybe not now, but in the 90s

It does mean something, especially at the VMAs when severely cut down on the number of acts performing this year, and they wanted an unsuccessful band to perform.
And what has DMB done? And don't say anything about their tour because that is not buzz

How did the VMAs cut down on acts performing? They had plenty.
Tour is buzzzz

Some of the buzz has Beyonce possibly get noms in like ROTY, AOTY. I just don't see it. I Am Sasha Fierce wasn't that great of an album, and I could not see Singles Ladies getting nominated for Record of the Year or even Song of the Year.
I'm predicting Gaga to sweep a lot of nominations but who knows, I wonder if there is gonna be any big snubs this year.
I'll be shocked if Brit gets a lot. I would love to see a Best Female Pop Vocal but I will settle with Best Dance Recording If I have to. I really think Womanizer, if nominated, has a big chance.
BTW. does anyone see Poker Face or The Fame winning AOTY or ROTY? Poker Face is a really good song, but it's no different than a lot of the eletrco-pop songs that are out there IMO

Did Miley get submitted for anything for The Climb?
I would LOVE to see that multi format inspirational smash get nominated.

You really don't think Single Ladies deserves a nom in ROTY? I think it was definitely one of the biggest records of the year, and had huge pop culture significance. It's like everything that represents what the Record of The Year is. She has been nominated twice with Crazy In Love and Irreplaceable too, so the odds would be in her favor. I think Poker Face will get nommed for ROTY, but Use Somebody or You Belong To Win will win.
