Maroon 5 extends their record for weeks at #1 to a staggaring 9 weeks this week. What is the longest a song has topped your chart for? (I'll vote when Maroon 5 are done on the top, whenever that is).

From the time I did my chart from March 07 - Oct 07, Umbrella & Who Knew were tied with most weeks at #1. They both had 5 weeks during the time I did my chart. However, had I been doing my chart since the beginning of 06, U + Ur Hand would probably hold the record with over 12 weeks. haha

Christina Aguilera spent 8 weeks at #1 with "Hurt". I've had a few 7-week #1's though.

Could "Only Fooling Myself" break her record? It's been on top for 6 weeks so far, so it has a chance.

Alanis Morissette - Eight Easy Steps spent 12 weeks at #1 in 2004. I was nuts about that song, like REALLY nuts. Just ask FreakyFlyBry.

14 Weeks Savage Garden - Crash and Burn (non-consec.)
10 Weeks Linkin Park - In The End Backstreet Boys - Shape of My Heart
8 Weeks Westlife - If I Let You Go
7 Weeks The Fray - How to Save a Life (non-consec.)
Nowadays, it is 20x harder to reach #1 and stay for a long time in my PC. Hence, the reason why older songs had a longer reign in #1. Songs in my PC(100 songs) top 10 can easily have made #1 if there were not so much competition and have appeared at an alternative timeline.
My PC currently is Top 100 including more than 50 old songs that i have discovered present. Another fact is that 2007 was the start of Top 100 from a small number of only 20.

^ but i also need to control how much i discover cause the more i discover, the more competetive the chart goes and thats terrible, cause some songs only peak at the bubbling under while it has more than 30+ plays. This happened this year notably with the Killers' "Read My Mind" with 35 plays on iPod but never got to chart. Hence why they have 1 hit (Mr.Brightside)
Also a problem cause old songs don't wear out as fast. I have Thnks fr th Mmrs and Here In Your Arms charting for almost a year now... and is current now too

My chart started and stopped all over the place, so many great songs were never charted. ..... But, for what I DO have it was DJ Sammy's "Heaven" for like 7 months (it was a monthly chart....but STILL! On my weekly, Everytime We Touch for a whopping 11 weeks!

Carrie Underwood "Jesus Take The Wheel" Carrie Underwood "Before He Cheats" Carrie Underwood "So Small" they all had 7 weeks at #1 Carrie Underwood "Wasted" Carrie Underwood "Don't Forget To Remember Me" they had 5 weeks Carrie Underwood "All-American Girl" had 4 weeks that is the only ones that have more than 3 weeks (i think). it is just because i like so many songs and have to give many songs a week at #1

"Far Away" by Nickelback spent 11 weeks at #1. If I had the charts from back then, the second longest would probably be Green Day's "Holiday".
