Call me late to the party, but we are a week into 2013 and I'm just now counting down my biggest hits of 2012. This is all based on my weekly personal chart, and I have Drag to thank for the aesthetically pleasing format. Let's get this show on the road! 30. Tremonti - You Waste Your TimePEAK: #4While not as engaging as the work he does with his two bands (Alter Bridge and Creed), this song was still something to behold. It did well on my chart during the summer, spending several weeks in the top 5. It deserved to do better than it did on rock radio. 29. Ke$ha - Die YoungPEAK: #2This was actually tied with "You Waste Your Time" in terms of chart points, but it gets the tie breaker for peaking higher. This was a great lead single for Ke$ha that was accessible for everyone from hardcore dance freaks to Hot AC listeners. 28. Flo Rida - I CryPEAK: #1 for 3 weeksIt had a quick rise and fall...probably the quickest of any #1 song in my chart's history. It's a great song, but has a fast burn rate. It squeaks into the top 30 thanks to hanging on for my first chart of 2013. 27. Five Finger Death Punch - The PridePEAK: #5Five Finger Death Punch showed that they have a sense of humor with this 4th single from American Capitalist. Of course, they take every bit of that humor and turn it into no-nonsense, bare-knuckled anarchy. 26. Nickelback - Don't Ever Let It EndPEAK: #5This tied with "The Pride" in points, peak position and weeks at the peak position, so I broke the tie based on personal taste. Maybe I'm stuck in 2006, but I thought this was a great power ballad for the fall season.

2/5, slow start but I expect it to pick up for me. I love the lyrics of The Pride. Never got that much humour, though. They're just really cool. COCA COLA, PEPSI, PLAYBOY, TEXT ME! The cover of I Cry is cool.

Maybe I get the wrong idea from "The Pride, but to me it's always felt like a more radio-friendly version of this.

25. Airborne Toxic Event - All I Ever WantedPEAK: #1 for 3 weeksThis emotional song spent the first 3 weeks of 2012 on top of my chart. I'm still puzzled as to why this did so poorly on alternative radio. 24. Trapt - Bring ItPEAK: #4Hollow, soulless hard rock music that is receiving minor active rock airplay and was used by TNA Wrestling. Most people don't care about it, but I think it's a pretty good song. 23. Foxy Shazam - I Like ItPEAK: #2This came close to topping my chart but never quite got there. The only reason this ranks at #23 and not in the top 10 is because of how quickly it burned on me...try listening to this song multiple times in a week and see what I mean. That being said, it's an incredibly fun song perfect for the occasional spin. 22. Halestorm - I Miss The MiseryPEAK: #6The only song on my year-end chart not to have spent at least a week inside the top 5. It had longevity and outlasted a lot of higher-peaking songs. 21. Rita Ora - How We DoPEAK: #3This song can best be described as fun and perfect for the summer. And does this sample "Electric Avenue" by Eddy Grant? If so, she did a great job with it! Peaked at #3 in August.

20. Five Finger Death Punch - Coming DownPEAK: #2If the song isn't powerful enough for you, watch the video. Easily one of the best videos of 2012, it gets an important message across in an honest and somewhat shocking way. 19.Mark Foster/A-Trak/Kimbra - WarriorPEAK: #1 for 4 weeksAn all-around good song. Also, another video I'd recommend checking out. As a big wrestling fan, I thought it was fun and very well-done. 18. Rise Against - SatellitePEAK: #1 for 1 weekRise Against continued their tradition of catchy guitar riffs, fast-paced choruses and meaningful lyrics with this single. It spent a week at #1 in February. 17. Nonpoint - Left For YouPEAK: #3With such an insanely catchy and addicting chorus, here is a tune that clicked with me on my very first listen. In a weaker part of the year, this could have easily hit #1 but it just so happened to be around when some heavy hitters were there to block it. 16. Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me MaybePEAK: #5I got into this before the masses fell in love with it, and it stuck around on my chart for awhile. It's undeniably fun and catchy for me, and the call me maybe line is the icing on the cake. Years from now, when we look back on the music of 2012, this will be one of the first songs to come to mind.

3/5 3/5 (8/15) I like All I Ever Wanted alot now, but it was pretty boring when I first listened to it. I'm more puzzled about how Changing only went to #16 on alt up here. Satellite is a good song too, but it is a weaker one from the album if you ask me. Don't know if you've heard the album, but I'd have released Architects, Broken Mirrors, etc before any of the singles besides the lead one.

^I just checked out those two songs and they're both pretty good, especially "Broken Glass." I like it a lot better than "Make It Stop" and "Wait For Me," but I still prefer "Satellite." Next set: 15. Young Guns - BonesPEAK: #2This was tied with "Call Me Maybe" in terms of chart points, but gets the edge for peaking three spots higher. These guys are proof that not every modern rock band from the UK has to suck; this is a great song with a powerful chorus. 14. Neon Hitch - F U BettaPEAK: #2I'd call it a guilty pleasure, but the truth is I don't feel guilty about liking it. It's also worth noting that this song had the best music video of 2012, and if you don't believe me I advise you to click the link. 13. The All-American Rejects - Beekeeper's DaughterPEAK: #1 for 2 weeksIf any song to hit my chart in 2012 qualifies as a sleeper hit, it's this jam that spent 2 weeks on top in May. AAR is a band that had fallen off of my radar after a disappointing era several years ago, but I welcomed them back with open arms when they released this. 12. Matchbox Twenty - She's So MeanPEAK: #1 for 3 weeksThese days, I associate this song with total burnout. That can be chalked up to playing (and hearing) it countless times on my school radio station. But way back in the summer, this fun song topped my chart. You could say it's a song for us nice guys. ;D 11. Chevelle - Hats Off To The BullPEAK: #2It spent 8 long weeks in the top 5, outlasting higher-peaking songs in the process. Despite not being as famous as "Face To The Floor," I always thought this was better in every way.

I'm really digging your chart this year. Loved seeing The Beekeepers Daughter on your chart. It was a guilty pleasure of mine, mainly because AAR has been shit since Move Along.
Bold claim with Neon Hitch though. I could find 50 videos this year that were better, but probably lack the sheer sex appeal she brings to the table. Such a hot british redhead.

I'm glad you like the chart! "Beekeeper's Daughter" was definitely not something I expected to like, but it ending up being a real surprise for me.
Neon Hitch proved you don't need a high budget to make a great video. Hot British redhead is right! ;D

10. Foster The People - Don't Stop (Color On The Walls)PEAK: #1 for 2 weeksCan you say fun? Because that's what this jam is all about, right down to its memorable music video. 9. Redlight King - ComebackPEAK: #1 for 3 weeksWhen it comes to The Avengers soundtrack, it was Soundgarden's "Live To Rise" that got all of the attention, praise and commercial success. While that is certainly understandable, it was "Comeback" that really shined on my chart. It was an anthem of mine during the summer where I could relate to every line in the song. 8. Five Finger Death Punch - Remember EverythingPEAK: #1 for 6 weeksThis is the third and final song for 5FDP on my year-end chart, giving them more appearances than anyone else. If you ask me, this is the single that took them to new heights as a band. It was a #2 active rock hit that felt like a #1, and it's when they became a staple of the format in my eyes. 7. Sleigh Bells - Comeback KidPEAK: #2Here's a release that was unlike anything else to come out in 2012. And probably unlike anything else in any year, for that matter. Catchy, addicting and fun are all words I would use to describe this song. 6. Black Stone Cherry - Like I RollPEAK: #1 for 3 weeksModern southern rock done right. This tune is perfect for driving; I'd love to listen to it on an open stretch of highway, just being myself.

2/5. Some conflicts of interest here. I don't think most UK modern rock sucks, and I like Face To The Floor more : P. But I listen to Hats Off To The Bull alot, too. Very cool song. 4/5 (14/25). Nearly a perfect set, had it been nearly any other song from Between The Devil! I was confused because I thought that it was a song by Comeback Kid that I hadn't heard. But I'm glad it was this, because I never heard of it and it's really cool.

5. Rita Ora - R.I.P.PEAK: #2An urban-leaning pop song that can be best described as epic. This Drake-penned track never got a chance to shine at #1 - it was blocked by a couple of 6-week chart toppers still yet to come - but spent 11 weeks in the top 5. Rita Ora was an artist I wasn't even aware of going into 2012, but a year later and she's made a lasting mark on my chart. 4. Flo Rida - WhistlePEAK: #1 for 3 weeksOf the 30 songs on this chart, 7 of them are pop songs and this is the highest-ranking one. The definition of a summer song, this awesome pop anthem proved to be a late summer success on my chart, spending the first 3 weeks of September at #1. The majority of the general public thinks he's singing about blow jobs, even though he's not. 3. Gaslight Anthem - 45PEAK: #1 for 6 weeksTalk about a great song! These guys had a #1 hit on my chart in 2009 called "Great Expectations," and had all but fallen off of my radar when this came out. I love everything about it. The guitars in the verses, as Nick pointed out in his year-end chart thread, are fantastic. Possibly my favorite part of the song. This will always remind me of all the good times I had in the fall of 2012. 2. In This Moment- BloodPEAK: #1 for 6 weeksNot for the faint of heart, this sick and twisted jam spent 6 weeks on top during September and October. Listening to it is a pure adrenaline rush every time; a celebration of all things rock and metal. Safe to say, this is the heaviest #1 song my chart has ever seen, at least in my opinion. 1. Halestorm - Love Bites (So Do I)PEAK: #1 for 7 weeksIn 2012, one song shined above the rest. Early in the year, I was craving some bad ass, attitude-filled hard rock, and Halestorm was the band that delivered it to me. Over a period of 13 weeks, this song spent 7 non-consecutive weeks on top. To put that into perspective, its first week on top was 2/18/12 and last was 5/12/12. I've had 6 year-end charts, and this is the first one to have a song with female vocals at #1. So there you have it: my year-end top 30. Thanks to everyone who checked it out! Long live 2012, and long live music approved by KP. Here's to an even better 2013!

The top 5 ties for my best; 4/5! Making the final 18/30, which is about what I do weekly. 45 and Blood...our top 5s are that cool, lol. Love Bites was close to making mine. Honestly, there's about 20 songs not on my chart that I could sub in at any time. Fluctuations, man. I thought you were also in the group who likes I Miss The Misery more (but I definitely like this more).
