My top 30 of 2012 is coming in due time, but first I thought I'd post something that I had yet to get to: my 30 biggest chart hits of 2010. This list is loosely based on my chart information from that year, which was lost in a computer crash that fall. For the last few months of 2010, I only had #1 songs, which explains why most songs on this list are from earlier in the year. As always, the titles link to the songs and I'll be posting these things in increments of five. Let's get started: 30) Daughtry - Life After YouPEAK: #4I'll be honest...today, I'd probably prefer "September." But back in 2010, this was far and away my favorite single from the Leave This Town era. 29) Paramore - Brick By Boring BrickPEAK: #5While far from their most celebrated song, this has always been my favorite song from Paramore. 28) Tantric - Coming UndonePEAK: #3One of the most obscure songs on the list, this churning song from Tantric has always been underrated in my book. It's got some dark verses and one hell of a guitar solo! 27) Green Day - East Jesus NowherePEAK: #2In early 2010, this song was at the top of 98 Rock's rotation. I always enjoyed rocking out to it, and feel that it stands the test of time better than anything else from the 21st Century Breakdown era. 26) Metric - Gold Guns GirlsPEAK: #3One of the most underrated alternative hits of 2010. I still listen to this one on a regular basis and I think it might have been a bigger hit if it came out a year or two later.

I like 'em all except Daughtry. Good start.

4/5. Brick By Boring Brick is probably my favourite Paramore song, too. Remember when Hayley Williams' tits came online? That was pretty great. Never heard anything by Tantric before, but the name sounds familiar. It's a pretty cool song and I'm gonna download it.

^LOL! ;D That's hilarious...but yeah, any time Hayley wants to expose herself if fine with me. Especially in 2010, when she was at her hottest. Never heard anything by Tantric before, but the name sounds familiar. It's a pretty cool song and I'm gonna download it. They're best known for their song "Breakdown," which was a big rock hit back in 2001. I'd definitely recommend checking that out. But I'm glad you like "Coming Undone"! Here is the next set: 25) Sick Puppies - Odd OnePEAK: #2A song for all of the odd ones out there. This positive song peaked at #2 during the spring of 2010. 24) Five For Fighting - ChancesPEAK: #3A very pleasant song that I really relate to. These days, I enjoy playing it on my school radio station. 23) Veer Union - Youth Of YesterdayPEAK: #3If I had a high-speed internet connection back in 2010, this probably would have hit #1. Back then, I had to load songs just to listen to them. Right around the time I turned 19, this song was an anthem for me. 22) Breaking Benjamin - Give Me A SignPEAK: #2If you ask me, this was their saddest single as a band. I remember saying that if Daughtry sang this exact same song, it would have hit #1 on Hot AC. 21) Cypress Hill - Rise Up featuring Tom MorelloPEAK: #4If this isn't the perfect pro wrestling entrance music, then I don't know what is.

2/5 (6/10) You didn't have high-speed in 2010!? I remember getting it in about 2004/2005, and THAT was very late. That's better than other songs I've heard by Sick Puppies, but it's still not for me.

You might not believe this, but I had dial up internet until 2011! ;D People here thought it was crazy.
"Odd One" has already been totally forgotten by rock radio, it seems. "You're Going Down" and "Riptide" fit in more, though I like them less.

^Why do you say that? Here is my next set: 20) Destrophy - The Way Of Your WorldPEAK: #5The most obscure song on the list. Got some VERY minor active rock airplay in 2010. I was introduced to this song by Dance Or Die, who was a big fan of it. 19) 10 Years - Shoot It OutPEAK: #1 for 2 weeksIf this doesn't get you pumped up, then I don't know what will. 10 Years were out to prove that they weren't all about the ballads and they did that with this song. 18) Kings Of Leon - RadioactivePEAK: #1 for 1 weekI was never on the KOL bandwagon the way a lot of people were, but I couldn't deny this song. It feels totally forgotten two years later, but I still like it. 17) Avenged Sevenfold - NightmarePEAK: #1 for 1 weekThe song that took active rock radio by storm. It spent a week on top of my chart during the middle of the summer. 16) Kid Rock - Born FreePEAK: #1 for 3 weeksThe video suggests that it's about being from Michigan...the lyrics sound like a pro-American anthem. But I always thought the message went a lot deeper than that.

It just seems like the type of song I'd hate...but I don't. I like 'em all except for whoever Destrophy is.

^They make Papercut Massacre look like Three Days Grace. 15) Creed - RainPEAK: #1 for 3 weeksA great song about starting all over. It spent the first 3 weeks of the decade on top of my chart. 14) Buckcherry - All Night LongPEAK: #1 for 1 weekIt was the perfect summer tune for active rock, but they missed the boat with it. How the hell did this not go top 10? 13) Stone Sour - Say You'll Haunt MePEAK: #1 for 1 weekA really powerful song. Much like "Nightmare," it felt emotionally charged due to a "death in the family," if you will. 12) Three Days Grace - The Good LifePEAK: #2It never hit #1 on my chart, but spent so many consecutive weeks in the top 5 that it racked up a ton of chart points. So here it is. 11) Nickelback - Shakin' HandsPEAK: #1 for 3 weeksDoes it get anymore clever than this song? No matter how many times I listen to it, the lyrical wordplay always impresses me. And of course, you gotta love those meaty guitar riffs.

Buckcherry, Stone Sour and Three Days Grace. Actually KP, "All Night Long" just barely scraped the top 10.
You and I can't be listening to the same "Shakin' Hands".

Radioactive sounds alot better 2 years later, but I`m still not a fan. I'd listen to it all day over Sex On Fire though, yuck. Destrophy was a bit too generic for me. Only heard one song from 10 Years before the 2012 album, but this song is pretty cool. I don't remember the Buckcherry song at all, but it's pretty good. I'm with Pipa on Shakin' Hands ;D 11/20

"Shakin' Hands" is genius if you guys think about it. Pure genius. ;D Nick, I'm glad that you feel the same way about "Sex On Fire." From day one, I saw no appeal in that song whatsoever. What was the 10 Years song that you knew? Actually KP, "All Night Long" just barely scraped the top 10. Good to know! I thought it peaked at #11 for some reason. Now I'm into the top 10: 10) Drowning Pool - Feel Like I DoPEAK: #1 for 1 weekIf you feel like I do, this song is awesome. 9) Three Days Grace - Lost In YouPEAK: #1 for 5 weeksIt spent the last 3 weeks of 2010 and first 2 of 2011 on top of my chart. It had a lot of longevity into the 2011 year. Believe it or not, this is my favorite song by them. 8) Katy Perry - California Gurls featuring Snoop DoggPEAK: #1 for 3 weeksIn 2010, there was no question what the "song of the summer" was. The honor went to this; one of the most obvious and quintessential summer songs of its generation. It was also the first song of its kind to hit #1 on my chart. 7) La Roux - BulletproofPEAK: #1 for 2 weeksThe first time I heard this was in the middle of the night on a Hot AC station. Once I figured out what it was, I started charting it and eventually it reached the top. 6) Five Finger Death Punch - Bad CompanyPEAK: #1 for 4 weeksDoes it get anymore bad ass than this awesome cover song? If you ask me, this is the track that made 5FDP big time players on active rock.

"Waking Up", but I take back what I said as I also have mp3s of "Now Is The Time (Ravenous)" and "Fix Me" (and played them on my show), so I guess I missed the lead single. Also, it seems my Backlash mp3 has disappeared and I'm just now noticing. I sorted my music folder by year to see which songs I could consider for my year-end chart, and that probably would have made it if it were there. D'oh! I think I deleted it because it was meh quality, and was going to replace it, but I must have forgotten. 2/5 (13/25). I was pretty impressed when I heard Feel Like I Do back then; I thought they were washed up. But after hearing the new single, they might be... Lost In You is far from my favourite by them, in fact, I don't even like it. Also very tiring when every top 40 and active rock station in town is spinning it for CanCon.

5) Chevelle - Shameful MetaphorsPEAK: #1 for 5 weeksThis song is my idea of lyrical perfection, and stands alone as my favorite Chevelle tune ever. It spent 5 non-consecutive weeks on top, and was a song I could really relate to at the time. 4) Nickelback - This AfternoonPEAK: #1 for 3 weeksFrom the day I bought Dark Horse, this was the standout track for me. Over 18 months later, it topped my chart, giving that album a record 4 #1 hits. One of the best songs they've ever done, and one of the most fun videos you will ever see. 3) Cage The Elephant - In One EarPEAK: #1 for 4 weeksLoud, noisy rock music with clever lyrics. What isn't to like? 2) Godsmack - Cryin' Like A BitchPEAK: #1 for 6 weeksThis is what hard rock music is all about. Over the years I have used words like "attitudinal" and "churning" to describe this song. 1) Crash Kings - Mountain ManPEAK: #1 for 6 weeksThis is it...my #1 song of 2010! This feel-good jam about sippin' on sunshine took both the alternative chart and my own by storm. While it feels a bit forgotten three years later, it remains a song that I play on a regular basis.

So odd to see Bulletproof and California Gurls in your top 30 of 2010 but it also shows where your progression started from strictly rawk dude to more music genre's being included.

4/5 (17/30) I play Mountain Man pretty regularly, too. I still wonder why In One Ear flopped in Canada.
