Okay, so, for my year-end chart, I'm only including songs that are on 2012 albums. So, no singles from 2011/2013 albums released in 2012. But there are a few cases where I can't really say for sure if I consider a song to be from 2012, therefore if it should be on the chart. 1. If a song was released as a B-side to a single in 2011, and didn't appear on an album until over a year later, is that song from 2011 or 2012? I first heard this song in 2011. 2. If a song was on a soundtrack in 2010, but not on a release by the band until 2012, is that song from 2010 or 2012? I first heard this song in 2012. 3. If a song appeared on a band's 2011 EP a few months before their 2012 album, is that song from 2011 or 2012? I first heard this song in 2012. This may seem pointless, but I'm very picky

1. 2011 2. 2010 3. 2011
To me, if a song exists on a physical or digital release prior to being on an artists album, then it's already been released.

My chart has more of last year's leftovers this year than average, but I agree with Jake here.

Ok, #3 is definitely 2011 because that's when I charted it. Just curious, what soundtrack was Die Mannequin on? I couldn't find that song even after it was released.

Hard Core Logo 2, and I didn't know that until the Danceland release. Turns out the soundtrack is from 2011, not 2010. Even so.

Where does it say that? Every site says that the soundtrack came out in 2011 (iTunes, Amazon, CD Universe). All I see on Wikipedia is that the movie was released in 2010. Which I found out was a small screening, but still. And also that it got a bigger release this year. I don't even know if the song is actually in the movie, so this song could be from 2010 or 2011, but not 2012 it seems. I didn't bother to watch the movie since I heard it sucks (as opposed to the original which I thought was great). There was no official trailer for the movie until 2012, which featured the song:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_Mannequin#Soundtracks(Note to self: stop trusting Wikipedia as a source.) There was no official trailer for the movie until 2012, which featured the song: That makes sense. I double-checked and sure enough, it came out in 2011. Not a single person had it online then though.
