Take That’s Progress (Polydor) has exceeded expectations by selling more than 235,000 copies on its first day of release.
HMV had said it expected the album to sell around 150,000 copies in the UK on its first day of release based on its own calculations but Progress, the band’s first album with Robbie Williams in 15 years, far exceeded that, according to OCC sales flashes.
The sales mean Progress is certain to top the charts on Sunday and the album has already beaten the best first-week sales for 2010, established by Kings Of Leon’s Come Around Sundown in October.
In a strong week for new releases, Rihanna’s Loud (Def Jam) looks set to debut at two, after selling more than 34,000 copies on its first day of release, while albums from Bruce Springsteen, Pink, Andre Rieu and Shayne Ward should all debut in the top 10.
Susan Boyle’s second album The Gift (Syco), which debuted at one last Sunday, will probably drop out of the top five as a result.
Oasis holds the record with 696k copies sold in the first week. At this rate TT could surpass that number.

In a couple of years Japan and the UK will have a bigger music market than the US.

Yeah, I actually quite like it a lot.
But as you know I am all pro-UK; so I'd listen to it on Youtube first or download it.
"Happy Now", "SOS", "The Flood", "Underground Machine" and "Eight Letters" are my early favorites so far.

Is the album more like electro pop? or is it more boy band pop ballads.
