I think this is my order. Maybe 2-6 might be shuffled a bit, and 7-10. But #1 for sure is definitely Breakaway

1. Already Gone

Lyrically, this song is beautiful. The production is beautiful. Kelly has never sounded better in her vocals. This song really came out at the right time in my life, when I really needed it. Dealing with finally just 'letting go' of all those feelings I had for my first love, it was a lot easier through this song.

The video is amazing too, just pure beauty, even if it is too short.

2. My Life Would Suck Without You

I remember the first time this song leaked. Coming off the whole bad press Kelly got from My December, I was really excited for her to come back with something BIG and this was her something big.

The song proved to be the one song you wanted to blast in your car over and over and over again. The way each verse slowly builds up to each explosive chorus just reminded me why each and everyday why I stayed a superfan of Kelly's.

3. Sober

This is probably her most beautiful song in terms of just that laid back feeling. My December was a great album and this is probably the one song I will remember most from her.

4. Beautiful Disaster (Live)

I never really liked this song on her debut, always thought it was too much of a 'upper' when the lyrics were always downright sad.

The live version on Breakaway really elevated the song to something more than it actually was originally. It turned it into a beautiful, torrid ballad. Just a perfect live performance for a recording and a beautiful reconfiguring of the song.

5. Behind These Hazel Eyes

What can I say? The minute I finished downloading 'Breakaway', this was the first song I listened to and it was a HEAVENLY first listen.

The video is Kelly's career making video, it is literally how every video should be, thoroughly detailed to go along with the songs total story.

The Joe Bermudez Remixes are also a great example of taking a song and elevating it to amazingness through the power of dance remixes.

6. Because of You

The album 'Breakaway' came out at pivotal time period when I was actually going through therapy three times a week for 4 months to deal with the whole being molested as a child.

The song really spoke to me lyrically just about being in that situation where you really are forced to deal with your inner demons and where they come from and how you deal with them.

7. Save You

Another prime example of a song coming out during the right time. The whole album AIEW was kind of cathartic in that it really was the album I listened to to deal with a lot of personal problems from last year.

8. Anytime
If I took anything away from 'From Justin to Kelly' as a film, it was this song. I LOVED this song in the film and it really became my favorite song of hers off Thankful. Beautiful song.


9. Just Missed The Train

It was either this or You Thought Wrong and really YTW was just a good pop song used as an excuse to make it a female power anthem and to give Tamyra Gray a launching pad that never took off.

Anyways....

How 'Low' was the second single was beyond me. This song is infinitely catchier, its a lot more authentic and its a great pop song. It doesn't sound 'filler-y' like Low did


10. The Day We Fell Apart

How this was a bonus track, I never understood RCA's decision. This is easily better than whyawannabringmedown and Impossible.

I haven't heard a lot of her album cuts, but she has always had some strong singles.

Shame on Zack for not including "Sober" in the top 10 which is EASILY one of her best singles, and one of the best pop creations of the decade. It is just sad to not see Zack include that.

I also do have to agree with LW on a lot of his list. "Low" is a really good song, and while "Miss Independent" is sort of...cheesy? It is still a nice song.

I almost included BTHE, but something about the chorus still bothers me. And Anytime too! If I had one spot, that would have been there too.

I love the production of the Bermudez remixes too though. Perfect example of a remix going out of the box and not following the template of any one genre.

I feel like a lot of Kelly's back catalog has depreciated with time, the"epic" songs aren't really all that epic to me anymore. Songs like Behind These Hazel Eyes and Since U Been Gone which were huge songs and monsterous hits in their own right just aren't that great or notable anymore. I do think Because Of You, Never Again and Sober are amongst her best though because it feels like they have retained their authenticity a bit more then the kind of screaming rock that Kelly's songs seemingly blend into. MLWSWY and IDNHU are all kind of perversions of this mold Kelly has stuck herself in and that ends up eating away at the strength of previous heavy contenders such as Since U Been Gone and Behind These Hazel Eyes. I do think that Already Gone was the one shining moment of All I Ever Wanted which was just an overall weak and quite too-sugary an effort. So if I were to rank Kelly's singles I would put them like this:

Totally agree with this. MLWSWY and IDHNU really were inferior bastardizations, and I've always said AIEW had such much sugar that was more pop than even her debut
