Jake, how's this station going to affect you guys?
--------------
CLEAR CHANNEL 80s Oldies WQBW (97-3 THE BREW)/MILWAUKEE has fliped to Top 40 as 97.3 RADIO NOW.
EUROPE "The Final Countdown" gave way to KE$HA "Tik Tok," TRAIN "Soul Sister," B.o.B "Nothing On You," ORIANTHI "According To You," TAIO CRUZ "Break Your Heart," KRIS ALLEN "Live Like We're Dying," and LADY GAGA "Alejandro" in the first half hour of the new format.
"NOW is the time for MILWAUKEE to have an exciting, contemporary music format that women from 25 to 54 can be passionate about," said VP/Market Mgr. JEFF TYLER.
97-3 RADIO NOW is set to be positioned right between ENTERCOM Top 40 WXSS (KISS 103.7) and ENTERCOM Hot AC WMYX (MIX 99.1).
CLEAR CHANNEL/MILWAUKEE FM OM KERRY WOLFE added, "Today we took an exciting step for listeners who want a station like this in MILWAUKEE."
Check out the new website, along with an audio link at 973radionow.com.
So What's Happening Across The Street?
Many in the market were expecting SAGA COMMUNICATIONS Smooth Jazz WJZX/MILWAUKEE to make the move to Top 40. The station signed off at noon YESTERDAY (NET NEWS 5/27), moving it's Jazz format to its HD2 subchannel and stunting as "TIGER Radio -- Music For Cheaters And Those Cheated On."
Did WQBW beat them to the punch? Or does SAGA have other plans? Stay tuned.

I explained it to LW but this goes back to about 8 months ago.
Clearchannel owns all "KIIS" branded stations. Entercom however found a niche in the Milwaukee market when 106.9 The Point found themselves dead and then 103.7 KISS FM came out.
Clearchannel basically tried to buy out Entercom's Top 40 share here, but however, Entercom didn't want to let go of its stronghold they have here obviously.
If you look at 97.3 Radio Now's playlist, it is a Hot AC playlist with Top 40 format music added in.
Their only hip hop song on the playlist is "Nothin On You" by BoB. They are skewered at the 18-45 year old female audience.
I told LW that when mediabase gets around to its usual August panel reviews, 973 Radio now will be forced into a Hot AC station due to its playlist.
