um basically any huge artists that have come out before her. The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Cher, Madonna, I could come up with tons of names. Britney is even more known.
It's not a big deal, everyone else has been out for longer so they're obviously going to be more known

It's not like its hard to figure out. Shes only been out for 2 years. She's had huge hits, but theres a ton more people known aroudn the world than her. Even Christina

What does having a bunch of hits have to do with anything? You only need one hit to get yourself out there.

exactly. and everyone else that i listed has had more exposure/more hits/more time so they are more well known, obviously.

Having one hit won't cement your long-term status though. You might become infamous, like MC Hammer, but you're not going to become a legend by just "putting yourself out there".

Well how about saying this truth then, and let's stop beating around the bush about it. And is Cher really more well known? I only know her for creating the atrocious "Believe".

She is already the most known artist in the world The things you say sometimes are just astonishing. Seriously? Gaga is by no means the "most well known artist in the world". I would say there are very few artists who truly gain that distinction. I would say that Michael Jackson is probably the only most well known musician in the world due to the fact that his impact on our culture was truly boundless. He seeped into truly every kind of market possible and cornered every country with his impact, his music, was everwhere and his visuals, performances, music videos seemed like historical events when they were released, and that was EVERYWHERE. Not just here. Gaga is by no means there and probably never will be. Let's be honest here immense popularity in Europe and North America is not "the world".

This has nothing to do with "impact."
If someone tells me, hey have you ever heard of Lady GaGa? BOOM I know her name.
When I say she is the most known, I am not saying anything other than if you asked every person in the world if they knew her, she would get one of the highest returns of "yes"
It has NOTHING to do with hits, record sales, impact, etc.

When I say she is the most known, I am not saying anything other than if you asked every person in the world if they knew her, she would get one of the highest returns of "yes" You do realize that there probably are people in the middle east, Africa and Asia who most likely don't know (nor care) who she is right? The world is so much more than just your average western countries and I think your forgetting that in the mill of your blanket statements.

Cher is more well known than Lady Gaga? I gotta disagree completely with that. Cher hasn't done much in the last 20 years besides Believe. Unless you're counting Burlesque

it doesn't matter what shes done in the past 20 years. she is more well known across the world than Gaga. More people know who Cher is than Gaga. Its not that hard to comprehend. Saying Gaga is the most well known person in the world is just an asinine and ridiculous statement.

But what is Cher known for to make her more well known? You have to have relevance among modern audiences too
MJ, The Beatles, Elvis, I would definitely agree with you. The latter two especially stopped making music so long ago, but their legacy still have lives on today and won't fade.
But I don't think Cher is close to their level or anywhere near it. I'd put tons of people in between like Madonna, Bob Dylan, Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, etc
At best, I think Cher might be a gay icon, but in the big picture, I don't think she's held up as well as the others.
