You mean compare Track 1 with Track 1 etc. or just chose our favourite 12?

I liked Circus more than Hard Candy (12-0; not surprising), but it was a tough choice between KTL/Heartbeat and SG/Miles Away, because are probably 2 of my favorite tracks off HC.

i would have voted for "4 Minutes" over half the stuff on Britney's album (Mmm Papi, My Baby, Blur, Lace & Leather) but it was against Circus. so i voted all Britney.

It's 7-5 in favor of Hard Candy, but overall Hard Candy by far. But the Circus album got lucky on Out From Under and Shattered Glass.

*high five back* Except for some songs like Spanish Lesson and Incredible, HC is really a very decent album. If You Seek Amy is so blah. It was supposed to be the triumphant return of Max Martin into Britney's music, but it turned out to such an uncatchy song only fueled by a non controversial and extremely exaggerated "controversy"

Huh? I thought you agreed with me about Amy being weak
You know the chorus is weak. They tried to make a lyrical hook for the chorus, but musically it sucks. You know this song pales in comparasion to the rest of the Max Martin songs.

I like Hard Candy. It wasn't amazing but it got a bad rep more for who Madonna was working with rather than the quality of music.
IUSA, well I'm not sure. When I got the album it seemed to be completely asinine yet utterly irresistable. I think that still fits but I think there is far less asininity and irresitibity I originaly though. The lyrical content is a rigmarole and it's all a bit tame and desperate, and Max has had stronger productions. It's all a bit 6.5/10 mediocrity, I fear.

And I haven't heard a bum, bum, bum, dun, dun, dun this annoying since Disturbia

I think it's viewed as rather ingratiating now, and yes it's a silly, naughty little ditty at the moment, but believe me that this will not hold up well at all inthe years to come. It's a moment of saccharine satisfaction: a sugar rush, that although pleasing to fans now, will feel slightly unwholesome and offensive later on.

Yeah exactly. Max's old songs were really well written, that calling them "bubblegum" was a bit marginalizing for how well they were constructed. I suppose if you want real "bubblegum" with that cheap sugar rush you were talking about, you get it with the "bum, bum, bums" in this song. But it's still no excuse for the chorus though

Well the chorus makes little sense. The pun works best here:
"Oh baby baby if you seek Amy tonight, oh baby baby we'll do whatever you like."
They should have used those lyrics as the chorus, it would have made far more sense, and would therefore seem a lot less desperate and a lot better of a song.
I have to say though that the "Baby baby" bit is the redeeming feature of the song. No one says "baby" quite like Britney Spears. Although sadly it does conjure up images of Baby One More Time, and it's not a good thing for the listener to be reminiscing on Britney's greatest hit and her loftiest peak - it only serves to make you realise how far she has fallen.

Voted almost entirely for Britney, as I feel "Hard Candy" was one of Madonna's weakest periods.

HC is a very in the mainstream album. Madonna is famous for being ahead of the curb an da perfectionist, HC saw none of them. A lot of the songs I like but as a package it is not Madonna's best. As a friend put it so well, it was not nurtured like her other records. It felt a little rushed in parts or under cooked.
I know she was going through a lot of personal stuff (adoption of David, divorce) BUT I would have held off from the record to make it something memorable.

I thought HC was actually kind of unmainstream. Besides 4M, there weren't really a lot of "rhythmic" songs. It didn't fit the typical Pop/R&B mold as much I thought it would. A lot of the songs sounded like some closer to like some sort of like funky dance music imo.
