I don't think it is unbelievable at all. Most people don't want to hear this kind of a song in the summer. This should have been a fall release. Her best option was probably releasing the title track.

Bionic really should have been the lead single. Every big dance single kind of broke the meld a bit, from SexyBack to Boom Boom Pow. But I guess Christina was a little scared, since she was gone for so long, so that could have been a factor.

Bionic wouldn't have worked either, it was too out there, doesn't have a strong enough chorus and it has no hook. Even though the verses and pre-chorus are fire and the production is pretty strong. Strangely, Not Myself Tonight is the most radio ready song of the set and even then the song wasn't that great for radio with underwhelming production, weak chorus and generic beats.
As to this singles performance it's obvious that in this radio climate ballads such as this are not "in" she needed a beat heavy ballad - a strong beat driven mid-tempo track like Halo, Already Gone and Bleeding Love in order to be successful. Lift Me Up would have been the better single if they needed a ballad release. You Lost Me is simply to slow even if it's one of the better songs off the album.

I think Bionic was out there too, but still melodic enough to not be that alienating. I'm fine with the chorus, but I do think the other sections are better too.
And yeah, they should have gone for a more rhythmic ballad. But I wonder if the climate is a little easier now in terms of things being a bit more adventurous now? I'm still shocked they managed to pull something off like Hurt back in 2006, when I think thing the climate was a bit more conservative in terms of deviating less from rhythmic material. Do you think the remix with the rhythmic elements can help save this song though?

Hurt was MAJOR payola though.
And Bionic would've worked amazingly. I haven't heard anyone say that hate it.
If you're coming back from a 6 year hiatus, you NEED a cocky song. Justin did it with SexyBack, Britney sorta did it with Circus.

Do you think the remix with the rhythmic elements can help save this song though? Honestly no. Even with the ambient, quiet storm jazz remix! of You Lost Me I don't see the song doing much in the way of cracking top 40. I mean if Glitter In The Air didn't work, why in the world would this? I am convinced that RCA just wants another Grammy for Aggz which is why they released this. It's probably the best ballad on the album and it just screams critical acclaim, and the Grammy's never squander a chance to reward X. I think they might hope that YLM will end up signifying more with her older audience (via Hurt and Beautiful) and might end up picking up album sales. But I think that's a long shot. Has this been serviced to any AC formats? I would be more interested in it's performance there then any other format.

You Lost Me is basically a pop ballad, just one that's a big more organic. You Lost Me is like some sort of like Sheryl Crow/Melissa Etheridge album track that really should only be playing on AAA. It's gotten further than it deserves on HAC I think on the credentials of Pink I don't know if Grammy ambitions are the cause for this being released. She already has like about 4-5 Grammys. And besides, they usually nominate the first single anyway. Ain't No Other Man even won in 2007, and Hurt wasn't even nominated. So maybe NMT will get nominated anyway

I agree that ballads haven't been working lately but this is REALLY bad. I would think it be able to at least crack like 500 spins or something.

It's such unprecedented ground really. And the songs aren't that "bad" or deviated from the mainstream, to like dictate such an unprecedented level of flopping

yea, like regardless.. when the new Christina Aguilera song on radio can't even get 100 pop spins, something is deeply wrong

I don't necessarily think this needs a rhymtimic update. It's fine as it and I like it. Suitable for CA's voice.
