Before I get to the commentary, you might notice that the stats on this week's chart (weeks on, peaks, etc.) are different. That is because I have completed “filling in the blanks” of my charts from December 2008 – April 2011, so now it looks a lot better. Okay commentary time!
Greetings, chartaholics! My week has been… honestly, it was just okay. I ended up getting an A on my research paper, which is AWESOME. I also went to the mall on Wednesday which was fun and got some stuff at Victoria's Secret. There's other stuff too but I don't feel like getting into that. Hopefully your week was better! ;D Now, enough with all the blabbing, it's now time for me to talk about the best chart ever! ;D Okay I'm really not that conceited I swear lol, but let's face it, THIS CHART IS BANANAS! B-A-N-A-N-A-S! I'll stop now.
Nikki Sixx and those other unknown dudes who were never in Motley Crue spend a second week at #1 with “Lies Of The Beautiful People”, now tying “Life Is Beautiful”, which spent two weeks at #1 in February 2008. OMG “PETALS” BY HOLE JUST CAME ON SHUFFLE! HELL YEAH! Oh, sorry. Speaking of Hole though, they need to release another album! Nobody's Daughter was an amazing comeback. SKINNY LITTLE BIIIITCCCHHHH!!11!1 Oh yeah we're talking about Sixx:AM, my bad. Only I am able do a chart commentary and randomly start talking about Hole. Anyway, it is unsure whether or not Sixx:AM will spend a third week at #1, for two reasons. One reason is that there's lots of competition. Def Leppard have climbed a spot to #3 with “Undefeated”, Rush make a big climb into the top five from #8 to #5 with “BU2B”, and Ozzy Osbourne is still doing quite well rising a spot from #7 to #6 with “Let It Die”, and you guys should know how much I love all three of those acts. Let's also not count out the Foo Fighters and Nicole Whatever, who are both still holding strong. Not to mention, I finally got around to watching the Foo Fighters documentary this week. It was really good and a lot better than I thought. I thought they were just going to focus on Dave Grohl's ~transition~ from Nirvana to the Foo Fighters and constantly talk about him and Kurt, but instead they briefly focused on that and talked about the other members of the Foo Fighters as well. For once I watched a music documentary where I actually learned something rather than heard about the stuff I already know. The other reason why it's unsure whether or not Sixx:AM will be able to spend a third week at #1 is because, let's face it, “Lies” is an awesome song and all, but “Life” was one of my favorite songs of the last decade. DO YOU SWEAR ON YOUR LIFE, THAT NO ONE WILL CRY, AT MY FUNNERRAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL!1!!111
Within Temptation make a HUGE climb into the top ten, rising ten spots from #18 all the way to #8 with “Where Is The Edge”. I still have no idea whether or not this is the second single, but at this point I really don't care. That song rules. In fact I actually think “Edge” is the best song those goth people have ever done. This is their fourth single to make the top ten on my chart. “What Have You Done” peaked at #2 and “Frozen” peaked at #5 both in 2007, and “Faster” recently peaked at #3 a few weeks ago. Could this possibly be their first #1? Stay tuned after these messages to find out. Okay, so there aren't any commercials in this commentary but you know what I mean.
Some other notable climbs this week include Duran Duran moving from #14 to #12 with “Girl Panic”, Beastie Boys moving from #17 to #13 with “Make Some Noise”, Nicole Whatever FINALLY actually making some movement with “Right There”, moving from #20 to #14, Duff McKagan's Loaded moving from #22 to #19 with “Dead Skin”, Adele moving from #24 to #20 with “Rolling In The Deep” (this is Loaded's third top 20 hit, and Adele's first), and Halestorm moving from #23 to #22 with “Slave To The Grind”. I would like to rant a bit on Nicole Whatever. Wow first Britney Spears, then Rihanna, now Nicole Whatever, the ranting never ends for me. As much as I like her song “Right There”, I think releasing it as her first single here in the states is a stupid idea. “Don't Hold Your Breath” is a much better song in my opinion and I think that song could potentially stop her from being such a flop here. I also don't understand why they had to add 50 Cent into the song. Not only does he suck, and not only was the song good already without him, but WHO GIVES A SHIT ABOUT HIM ANYMORE? GOD. As I mentioned about a week ago in my top 250 worst songs of all-time thread, which you can see in the Share Your Opinions forum, you never hear his music anymore! “Candy Shop” went to #1 and you never hear it anymore, meanwhile it stopped Green Day from going to #1 with “Boulevard Of Broken Dreams”, and I still hear that one on the radio all the time. So really at the end of the day Green Day won. TAKE THAT 50 C*NT.
Now, I know I'm very late on this one, but meh. I never heard this song before until a few weeks ago. Of course I am talking about the only song to debut this week – Cher debuts at #24 with “You Haven't Seen The Last Of Me”, off the Burlesque soundtrack. It's quite sad when Cher, who I don't mind but I was never a HUGE fan of, puts out a song from that soundtrack that I like a lot, and meanwhile, Christina Aguilera, who has been one of my favorite pop artists since 1999, puts out messes. I'm sorry, but when I first heard “Express” and “The Beautiful People”, I was very disappointed because since they weren't on Bionic, I assumed they were going to be good. “Express” is just bland and as for “The Beautiful People”… let's just say Aguilera & Manson don't mix at all. But as for Cher, I was quite impressed with her song. I'm not into ballads as much as I used to be, but she hasn't aged at all with her voice and it's just a great pop ballad. I think it would be cool if she made another Believe-style comeback. Now I feel like listening to that song. DO YOU BELIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVE IN LIFE AFTER LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE!1!1!11
Will Sixx:AM spend a third week at #1? Will Def Leppard be undefeated after all and reach the top? Were Rush brought up to believe that they are going to be the next #1? Stay tuned next week on another edition of the Jessica's Top 25 countdown!
Have a great weekend, and enjoy the chart! ;D
