Greetings, chartaholics! My week has been pretty decent. I have one week of class left, got my Mom some stuff from Bath And Body Works for Mother’s Day, and I have been working my ass off on a research paper about girls being pressured to be perfect (particularly with their looks) in society. I don’t really know what else to add to that to be honest with you so onto the chart! ;D
SHOCK HORROR! THERE’S ACTUALLY MOVEMENT ON THIS WEEK’S CHART! The first notable move this week is, of course, the Foo Fighters finally kicking those geezers, I mean, Whitesnake, out of #1, with their smash hit single, “Rope”, being the second #1 of the new era of my chart. Whitesnake’s “Love Will Set You Free”, after spending three weeks at #1, drops a spot to #2, because let’s face it – these days Dave Grohl is WAY more of a looker than David Corpserdale.
Nicole Whatever is actually looking like a potential #1 contender though, moving two spots from #5 to #3 with “Don’t Hold Your Breath”. For some reason though, Katy Perry doesn’t want to seem to move. Also, she seems to have an obsession with the number four. She was at #4 last week with “E.T.”, stays at #4 again this week, this is the song’s fourth week on the chart, and it’s peak position so far is #4. Also wrapping up this week’s top five is Def Leppard, moving two spots from #7 to #5 with “Undefeated”. I’m pretty sure I’m the only one who knows about that song’s existence, but meh.
Hmmm what else happened on this week’s chart? Oh yeah! There is only one top ten entry this week and it is from the Prince Of Darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne. The third single from his Scream album, “Let It Die”, no relation to the Foo Fighters song of the same name that reached #2 on my chart in 2008, moves three spots this week from #13 to #10. I really don’t know what else to say about this, so enjoy this 30-second clip of Ozzy being interviewed on Fuse last year asking, “Who the f**k is Justin Bieber?”
Some other notable climbs this week include Jennifer Lopez moving from #14 to #12 with “I’m Into You” (her album Love? comes out this Tuesday!), Duran Duran moving from #19 to #14 with “Girl Panic”, Stevie Nicks moving from #22 to #17 with “Secret Love”, and the Beastie Boys moving from #25 to #18 with “Make Some Noise”.
SHOCK HORROR! MORE THAN ONE DEBUT THIS WEEK! Yes, after two weeks of having only one debut on the chart, this week there are three debuts. The top debut at #19 is one of my all-time favorite bands who I had the chance to see in Tampa back in October, Rush with “BU2B”. WHEN WILL RUSH AND LITA RELEASE THEIR NEW ALBUMS ALREADY? GOD. Anyway, also debuting this week at #23 is Within Temptation with “Where Is The Edge”, and the girl obsessed with the number four, Katy Perry debuts at, coincidentally, #24, with “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)”
Will the Foo Fighters stay at #1 for a second week? Can Nicole Whatever become a surprise #1? Will Rush do what they usually do and beat them all because they’re just that legendary and iconic? Stay tuned next week on another edition of the Jessica’s Top 25 countdown!
Have a great weekend, and enjoy the chart! ;D
