Greetings, chartaholics! Well, last weekend I went on ANOTHER shopping spree, only this time I bought a lot of CD’s, a cute top at Bebe and some make-up at MAC Cosmetics, who my homegirl Shirley Manson was once a spokesperson for. Class was pretty easy-going as well. I don’t really know what else to say so, onto the chart!
David Coverdale the corpse and some other old men remain at #1 for a third week with “Love Will Set You Free”, which, as you can probably tell, is my favorite song of 2011 so far. Wait until Lita Ford’s lead single from her upcoming album The Healing comes out and that will change. Well, now you guys know where I got my username! LOL. But anyway back to the chart, my second favorite song of 2011, which will soon be my third favorite, “Rope” by the Foo Fighters, remains at the #2 spot for a third week, still looking very likely to get the top. Their new album, Wasting Light, went to #1 in many counties, including the United States, and although I don’t really follow the Billboard crap anymore I still find it rather awesome that a rock band I actually like is on top!
Clearly a lot of songs are too lazy to move this week because Within Temptation and Katy Perry ALSO stay at their #3 and #4 positions from last week, respectively. I heard the Kanye West remix of “E.T.” for the first time last week. It’s not bad. However, I’m really happy for Kanye, and IMMA LET HIM FINISH, but the original is one of the BEST POP SONGS OF ALL TIME! Okay, I wouldn’t go that far, but it’s still a good tune. Also, Nicole Whatever enters the top five this week with “Don’t Hold Your Breath”. I am actually really loving that song right now. Could she have the first pop song to reach #1 in the new era of my chart? Hey, don’t look at me; I haven’t made any of my future charts yet.
Two songs enter the top ten this week – although the song has only been out for three weeks, Def Leppard have already made the top ten with “Undefeated”, rising from #12 all the way to #7. Sixx:A.M. also enter the top ten with “Lies Of The Beautiful People”, rising from #13 to #10. Speaking of Motley Crue members, I would like to take this time out to congratulate their frontman Vince Neil. His s**tty solo album, Tattoos & Tequila, has been out since June 2010, and it’s first copy was sold today! Unfortunately though for Vince, the person that bought it only bought it because they needed a new coaster.
I’m gonna be honest with you guys – my original plan for this week was to have Britney Spears enter the top ten with “Till The World Ends”, which was #15 last week. However, the release of what is, in my opinion, the absolutely POINTLESS remix with Ke$ha and Nicki Minaj, has really turned me off the song, therefore it has dropped two spots to #17. When I first heard the original version, I thought it was just okay. It sounded too much like “Hold It Against Me” to me at first listen. Then the video came out and I grew to really like it. The song to me was good the way it was, and now she all of a sudden puts out a remix with two people I can’t stand on it?! I’m sorry, but my shoes can sing better than Ke$ha and Nicki Minaj. To me she’s trying to be like everyone else, just like Christina did. Femme Fatale only has a handful of good songs on it (although on Bionic I just liked the two singles but that’s beside the point ). The only song on the album that I REALLY like is “Criminal”, because it’s a pure pop song which is what she is most well-known for. This dance s**t is no different from what everyone else is doing right now. I know I have criticized Britney a lot in the past, like in 2004 when she got all sexed up, but first of all, I was, like, 13, when I did that. Second of all, even if I stood by the comments I made about her back then, I would much prefer to have In The Zone Britney back, because at least back then she wasn’t following trends. “Toxic” sounded like NOTHING like what was on the radio at that time. “Till The World Ends”, however, does, especially now with this remix out. But enough ranting, this isn’t “The UK Chart Rant” from my old countdown show.
Some other notable climbs on the chart include Ozzy Osbourne rising from #16 to #13 with “Let It Die”, Jennifer Lopez rising from #18 to #14 with “I’m Into You”, Christmas Tree rising from #22 to #15 with “California King Bed”, and Duran Duran rising from #21 to #19 with “Girl Panic”.
Again, there is only one debut this week. The Beastie Boys debut at #25 with their new single, “Make Some Noise”. Honestly, I don’t know what else to say about that, so instead enjoy this hilarious video of Beavis & Butthead watching the video for their 1994 single, “Sabotage”
Will Whitesnake remain at #1 for a fourth week? Will the Foo Fighters FINALLY get to #1? Will my top 2 ever F***ing change? Stay tuned next week on another edition of the Jessica’s Top 25 countdown!
Have a great weekend, and enjoy the chart! ;D
