Greetings, chartaholics! This was quite the interesting week. I met radio DJ Eddie Trunk (and got a free copy of his book!) and went on a LONG OVERDUE shopping spree where I got Britney Spears' Midnight Fantasy perfume as well as some stuff at my favorite store ever, Victoria's Secret. But enough with the blabbering, onto the chart! ;D
Hard rock band Whitesnake, most well-known for their 1987 SMASHES “Here I Go Again” and “Is This Love”, and for being fronted by hottie turned corpse David Coverdale, top the chart for a second week in a row with “Love Will Set You Free”, off their new album Forevermore. Speaking of awesome rock music, the Foo Fighters stay at #2 for a second week with “Rope”, off their new #1 SMASH album Wasting Light, being a very likely contender for the top spot. The Foo Fighters aren't a stranger to the #1 spot as they reached #1 in the summer of 2007 with “The Pretender”.
Those unknown goth people… oops, I mean, Within Temptation, make a notable rise from #8 all the way to #3 with “Faster”. Katy Perry also makes a notable gain going from #10 to #4 with “E.T.” But considering that Within Temptation, as unknown and goth as they are, and Katy Perry are no stranger to success on my chart, who really cares about that? What we DO care about is that Nicole Howeverthef*ckyouspellherlastname has a HUGE hit on her hands with “Don't Hold Your Breath”! As some of you may remember, four years ago this (former) flop attempted to release an album here in the states as well as a million lead singles, and none of them did well (“Whatever U Like”, anyone?). Let's also not forget that I hated the Pussycat Dolls when they first came out and to this day I personally believe that “Don't Cha” is still one of the worst songs of all time, so the fact that I'm digging “Don't Hold Your Breath” so much is a huge improvement for her (though songs flopping doesn't affect my opinions on them but that's beside the point).
Let's see, who else can we talk about here? Oh, I know! Shirley Manson and that dude from the Noiseheads rise two spots with “The Hunger”. Shirley Manson is f*cking amazing and anyone who says otherwise is a hater. Also Maroon 5 enters the top ten with “Never Gonna Leave This Bed”, so YAY for them!
Def Leppard released a new single either last Tuesday or Wednesday, I forgot, called “Undefeated”, from their live album Mirrorball, no relation to the live Sarah McLachlan album of the same name, and it's already making a big impact on my chart rising two spots from #14 to #12. Yeah, I'd hardly consider moving two spots on a top 25 to be a “big impact” either, but considering that I've been pretty much in love with Def Leppard since 2006, they're bound to do well on here.
Britney Spears' “Hold It Against Me”, Dr. Dre's “I Need A Doctor”, and Beady Eye's “The Roller”, despite all being in the top five last week, have now taken big falls. Why? It's simple. All three of those songs are older than Kenny Rogers and we need to make room for the newer tunes. Besides, Britney is doing perfectly fine with “Till The World Ends”, even though it didn't move at all this week but meh.
There is only one debut this week, and that comes from a very talented lady named Stevie Nicks. Her new single, “Secret Love” (HOT JOJO REMAKE!) debuts this week at #24. What happened to JoJo anyway? “Leave (Get Out)” was a TUNE! YOU WAS JUST A WASTE OF TIME!!!11
Will Whitesnake remain at #1 for a third week? Will Lita Ford's new single come out this week, debut at #1, and become a bigger hit than Alanis Morissette's 12-week #1 smash, “Eight Easy Steps”? Will Rebecca Black find her seat and debut on my chart, despite her song being, in my opinion, pure sh*t? Stay tuned next week to find out on the next episode of the Jessica's Top 25 Countdown!
Have a great weekend, and thank you for those who bothered to read all of my blabbing!
