It also wasn't frowned on as much back then. It all started around the time when Faith released Cry. lol I remember she got bashed cause it was "too Pop". Since then, its like Country has been really harsh on those who try to go Pop.

I mean its one thing if Pop starts playing the song on their own and then its sent for adds like BHC was. But its another when they start to play the original Country version and you send a remix out! I think Pop still would have played the original. Its MILES better. Not amazing, but that Pop mix is HORRID!

Wrong, it was really frowned upon at the time of Shania's COME ON OVER when country radio became so mad at a Shania for taking her music so big worldwide. It didn't matter after that for Shania because she became bigger than country music and made her own style music.
Shania has always been blamed for the newcountry sound.
They must hate that Shania lives in Europe and does her own thing.
