You know apparently it isn't THAT hard to get an Itunes deal. You may wanna look into that, Brian.

If you don't have a label, it would be more difficult, wouldn't it? But even if they did, their songs should probably be professionally recorded and have real production and everything if they wanted to put it on iTunes. and it would be best to have some original songs.

Yeah, they need to record their songs with real microphones and in a real studio first. Not just Garageband.

Well, I know actually a few groups (like 3) from my hs and work who have been able to get an itunes deal unsigned. But yeah, u may need better recording tools.

Well it's not really a deal from what I understand. Anyone can do it. You just have to pay a fee.

yeah. thats what you do. pay itunes to put your music on there then you can sell it. and itunes still gets a cut from what you sell. i've looked it up before.

We have looked into iTunes...basically all you need is to pay like a fee for iTunes to sell your music...so ANYOME can sell their music...but none of our stuff that we have recorded is really meant to be purchased at this moment...
The only one that I would consider is Whatever You Like +....besides that..they sound garage band-ish... but if you guys want any mp3 of our songs just holla at meh.

they couldn't sell their songs though could they? they're all covers, they would need permission to do that.

Nah, you can. You don't need permission to cover, just to sample.

Copyright is weird.
BASICALLY, anyone can COVER a song...because copyright ENCOURAGES artists to borrow ideas from other artists. However, like LW said...if we were to sample a song, then permission would need t be granted if the sample was more than like 5.5 secs.

SOOOO I could TECHNICALLY sell a cover if I wanted to because my arrangements are original and were my ideas.

That said though, you blended Whatever U Like with like I Wanna f**k You, and I think that could fall into the realm of sampling, so that would probably be a trickier situation

No its not...BECAUSE we didn't use their original vocals/tracking. WYL is our most CHANGED songs...changing the arrangement and mashing up two unlikely songs with our wn vocals/instrumentals...
SAMPLES are direct samples from an original song.

No, sampling also applies to interpolations, and that's what you're doing there.

But the form of "sampling" is original...there is no akon/snoop anywhere in the song.
BECAUSE the way copyright works is basically if you created your own form of SOMETHING you have the right to it...even if you stole the ideas of others...
for instance, fan fiction is encouraged...covers...mixtapes ect. TECHNICALLY our cover would fall under all of those sub categories.

No, it's not about you doing a cover, that's perfectly fine. It's about you mashing up the two songs together in that fashion, that's not okay.
