Good Evening Ladies & Gentleman, Queers & Straights, Haters & Fans
Tonight is a very special night. We are celebrating the retirement of two significant songs in this history of MediaSource. On this night of retirement, the higher ups have asked me to do what I do best. No, not diss Christina Aguilera or ruin one of your miniscule lives through public embarassment, but I am here tonight, to honor a woman who’s music has transcended, time, space, well not space, that’s Christina Aguilera nutty. I am here tonight to talk about a woman who has not only shaped the man I am today, but millions of now grown men and little girls who are now high powered CEO’s or just cutting hair, working the grind from 9 to 5, I am talking about the true Queen of Pop Music, Britney Spears.
The song in deference tonight, is Break The Ice. Through its stalwart beginning, Britney announces she is back with a thunderous synth section that leads you on a 3 minute and 20 second journey through thunderous beats to a subtle set of heavy panting leading to a more serene takedown, that encapsulates the listener mind, body and soul. While the song may have came at the wrong time to announce a full comeback, it left the public in wait for what was to come.
The track signaled a deep fan favorite here at Mediasource, with a 72 page run, and never once an argument. Shocking considering David was still around is proof enough this song could do more than get you on the dance floor, it could make even your worst enemy seem not half bad, or hey, even sane. The song itself was a clear representation of the era, but the video was not. A Music Video for this should have been sexy and seductive and full of raunchy attitude and slick dance moves, instead we got a Animated video set in Tokyo with a cartoon Britney whopping guys butts. Hey, come to think of it, it was Tokyo inspired, and it was animated. Christina Aguilera, you my friend, copied Britney with your futuristic andy Warhol pop art album set in Tokyo japan full of bubbles in glitter. UGH!
But enough about that STD ridden Lady Gaga wannabe, let us, enjoy the full audio phonic experience that is
BREAK THE ICE

And here is the 2nd song to ever retire, “Pocketful Of Sunshine” by Natasha Bedingfield. Natasha was first put up against “Shake It” who had previously won 4 times in a Head2Head and only needed one more win to become retired. “Shake It” brutally beat songs like “Leavin’”, “What About Now”, “Thunder”, and “If I Never See Your Face Again”. But it stood no chance against the powerhouse that was Natasha. Natasha won her 1st round taking 9 out of the 10 votes. “Pocketful Of Sunshine” then went on to face “Mercy”. Although it was closer, Natasha won with 5 out of 7 votes. Then Natasha went on to win round 3 against the HUGE hit “I Kissed A Girl” taking 100% of the votes, 7 out of 7. POS went on to beat Colbie Caillat’s “Realize” in round 4 with 9 out of 10 votes. And in round 5 Natasha took POS and beat John Mayer’s “Say” with 5 out of 6 votes. And POS was then retired.
Congrats to Natasha and Pocketful Of Sunshine.
