The quality of her album might be debatable, but not all the philosophical analogies. LOL

Britney vocals have always been manipulated since her first album. Autotune isn't art

Autotune isn't art exactly. for me, the art in a song is something with REAL vocals.

Autotune isn't art exactly. for me, the art in a song is something with REAL vocals. Vocals are the most irrelavent part in the make-up of a song. Being a good vocalist does not make you a good musician. Ever listened to electronica? No vocals, yet the songs can still be masterful, still be art; and much better than any warbling or melisma Whitney Houston could chuck at me. Britney vocals have always been manipulated since her first album. Autotune isn't art No, this is different. The vocal manipulation on Blackout is to the extreme, creating sinister and disturbing effects central to the albums message, the purpose is to disrupt and add effect to the songs, rather than to just smoothe over her vocal flaws. Blackout is a masterclass in autotune and vocal treatment as a studio instrument. For example: On Gimme More Britney is subjected to sudden drop outs, octave falls, pitch-bending, stutters and warps, which is used to create a really sinister, grimy track. Piece of Me: The vocal manipulations is totally in service to the song's content.; which suggests that the price of fame is identity erasure - the whole point of the song. We understand her through a filter, and that's how we have to hear her too. On "Break The Ice" she interrupts the song to say, excitedly, "I like this part!", as if she's only just hearing it. Her constant surrender of identity from track to track comes over as a tactic to make individual songs more disorientating and thrilling. Freakshow: Britney suddenly starts repeating her lines in sick, flat vocals pitched down so low it's like she's turned mid-song into a man - a freakshow indeed. Get Naked: This is a song about sex certainly, but the level of studio trickery applied to it makes it claustrophobic, as frightening as it's exhilarating, And it would certainly creep people out, as the image of that bald Britney with an umbrella and grease stains is juztaposed onto the understanding of the song. It really works. et cetera et cetera. So you see my point now? I'll quote Rolling Stone: If you valued sonic originality, lyrical dexterity, vocal innovation and total danceability over such non-essential concepts as authorship, then Blackout was almost flawless. eat it.lick it.snort it. f**k it.

how dumb. they are releasing songs to iTunes weekly like Kenny Chesney and Jonas Brothers have, so they really can't push it back too far. maybe a week or 2 but thats it!
