Irreplaceable vs. Umbrella

Irreplaceable is a classic R & B song. The lyrics are fantastic, the beat was fresh at the time (although may come off as outdated now), and the 'to the left' hook was unforgetable. Beyonce's attitude in the song is right on the mark too.

However...'Umbrella' is POP music at it's BEST. You can quote me here when i say that 'Umbrella' is probably the best song ever released in the last 20 years in my opinion. It's pure genius, and Rihanna delivered something that so many other female singers wished they could've had. I don't know what it is exactly about this song that makes me love it so much. It's a masterpiece, a pop classic, and i know it will stand the test of time. Pop music doesn't get better than this. It also proves that when pop music is really really good, it can pretty much crossover into any other genre (which this did).

Rihanna wins this!

Anyway, I love Irreplaceable, but Umbrella is definitely in another league.

I still do not understand what is so great about Umbrella. It's just another pop song for me. That being said, Yolanda takes the cake easily. That's just an anthem that anyone can relate to and sing it along!

While I love Umbrella I get sick of it 3/4s of the way through, while I love everything about Irreplaceable well except for the to the left parts. LOL
