Cook Says Underwood is Reason Label Dropped Her Kristy Lee Cook is speaking out against her former record label, Arista Nashville. The 'American Idol' alum says record execs spent too much time and money on another country 'Idol.' "(Arista) released me again. It's because I was on the same label as Carrie Underwood," Cook tells the Grants Pass Daily Courier. "We're kind of glad that we got released because we weren't getting the attention we need." Cook first signed with Arista at age 17 but was dropped before any music was released. She was re-signed to the label shortly after placing seventh on Season 7 of 'Idol,' and quickly released her debut album, 'Why Wait.' "They promoted it a little bit," Cook says of Arista's attention to the album. "They spent so much more money on Carrie." Cook's first single, '15 Minutes of Shame,' hit the Top 30 on the country charts, but no other singles from the album were officially released to radio. She says fans haven't heard her best music yet. "I have a song that they didn't want me to put on the album that's going to be a hit," Cook insists. "I'm going to take it to another label ... We're talking with Universal right now." YOU GO GET EM GIRL!

Ugh I wanted to post that. BUT ANYWAYS. LMAO I figured you would be torn Zack! Kristy hates Carrie! Which one to follow!?!?1/1?? Hopefully she can get on Universal. They don't drop like anyone. They've kept flop Shooter Jennings all these years.

Kristy hates Arista for ignoring her for Carrie. i highly doubt she hates Carrie, she probably was just jealous. i also hope she can get on Universal and they can re-release her album using this "song that will be a hit" as the lead single followed by releasing "Plant The Seed", "I Think Too Much", and "Not Tonight"

I'm sorry, but even though your really pissed ...it's not cool to go calling out other artists and to publicly put blame on them for the demise of your work with the label. She made herself look like a total asshole with that statement (in my own personal opinion).
And if Universal had Carrie Underwood to make bank off of, I doubt they'd be more interested and motivated to promote Kristy's album than Arista was.
*end of rant*

i dont think she was blaming Carrie for her not getting attention from Arista. i think she is complaining that they only spent money on Carrie. which she is somewhat right. they should have spent more money on her and promoted "15" more and it could have been a decent hit followed by a few other hits. its obvious Arista signed her knowing that her Idol fans would buy a few thousand copies of the album and it would be quick easy money for them. they wanted no part of her being a permanent artist on their label. proven by Jypsi having 2 songs that got nowhere near as high as Kristy's song and they are still on the label.
