either way, idc, this is going to be #1 on Pop, Hot AC and the Hot 100. Sara, not so much. Both good songs but Katy has the star power.

Sara Bareilles should sue them. It makes no sense that Sara release that as a lead single and then give them the rights. If i am Sara, i would not release Brave if i can get tons of money for the copyright of Roar.
They just ripped the song. Plain simple.

Very dull and uninteresting, in my opinion. It sounds like a Kelly Clarkson single that would go top 10 on Hot AC and peak at #26 on Pop.

Katy revealed on air this morning this song was recorded and registered on ASCAP March 2nd. Brave was not released until mid April, so there's that.

My first impression of the song was that it was pretty boring but of course it's one of those songs that drive you crazy by playing over in your head. Now I love it lol.
Sara's Brave does kind of sound like this, but they both have two different feelings to me. I would never have thought of the word 'plagiarism' or 'copy' when hearing both if I hadn't heard of the issue beforehand. There's always going to be similar sounding songs in pop music anyway. I wouldn't make a big deal out of it unless Sara said something about it.

Debuts at #2 on the Hot 100. Only 2.76% percentage points were between Robin Thicke and Katy. She will probably hold at #2 for a while (2-4 weeks) as her iTunes sales are stabilized and she is still selling 2:1 over Robin, and he will lose AI and sales now that Blurred Lines is finally dying.
UPDATE: Over on the Digital Songs chart, Katy Perry's "Roar" bows at No. 1 with a whopping 557,000 downloads.
