I'm so very excited to finally have some new music from Skillet! It's been about 4 years since they released their last album. I really like this. Can't wait until they release their new album!

Skillet is one of the 2013 releases I'm most looking forward to, so it's great to finally have the lead single out.
I'm liking this song on first listen. I can relate to the lyrics, and am not at all surprised to hear them using dubstep (or what sounds like dubstep)

Four years of waiting for new music from them has been killing me lol. I'm not at all surprised either that they're using that style for their comeback. It's the in thing. They've also done the orchestral rock style thing for two albums in a row so it makes sense that they're changing it up for this release.

The orchestral thing worked for them, but I think this might honestly work even better. I'm interested to see how their album turns out to be. If this is representative of it, I will like it a lot.

From what I've heard about the album, most of the tracks are going to be in the vein of "Sick Of It", but there's also going to be a couple like their older material.

It debuts at #39 on Active Rock:
52 39 SKILLET Sick Of It 172 71 101 0.341
My KPrediction for this song is that it will peak at #4, just like "Monster."

It looks like this is going to fall well short of my prediction, as it is currently struggling its way into the top 20:
22 20 SKILLET Sick Of It 594 583 11 1.097

Wow I'm surprised it's not doing so well. I guess it probable has something to do with the light style change and the fact that they've been gone for 4 years.

The thing is, neither of those factors should really be a problem IMO (even though they seem to be). - "Awake And Alive" hit #1 in March of 2011, and "It's Not Me It's You" was a top 20 hit in the summer of '11. So it really feels (on active, at least) like they were only gone for 2 years.
- A recent #1, "Vilify" by Device, had a similar electronic-leaning style just like this did. Not to mention "Chalk Outline" by Three Days Grace, which was a huge #1 last fall.
Maybe I'm reading too far into things, but I think this should definitely be top 10 by now.

Maybe it's the lyrics of the whole thing. I mean, recently everybody's been going on about being sick of bullying and sick of bad stuff. Maybe listeners are getting tired of hearing the same thing over and over.

That could be why. It's like...enough with the whining already! I like when Skillet dive into more unexpected lyrical themes, like they did with "Lucy."

Yes! "Lucy" is probably my favorite Skillet song lyrically. So far I've been a little disappointed with the songs released for this album. They've been nice and all, but they don't seem to have that thing in them that made their previous songs so great.

Official video:
It's such a shame that this is their only really great song this era. They had the potential to do really well after being gone for four years. Although, who knows. Maybe they're intentionally saving their best material for when the record comes out.

^I'm hoping the best is yet to come with this album era, but we will have to wait and see. Certainly they can do better than "Rise" and "American Noise." Even the album tracks from their last two records were better than those.
The video is decent. Nothing groundbreaking, but I do like it. Especially the stage.

They always do have some fantastic album tracks. I'm really thinking that both "American Noise" & "Rise" are some of the weaker tracks on the album. I might be being a little too optimistic, but their last two albums were good as a whole even though there were some weaker tracks.

This made the top 10 on Active, at least:
11 10 SKILLET Sick Of It 1161 1117 44 2.436
It's going to get bumped out by the likes of Avenged Sevenfold and Pearl Jam, but it did better than I thought it was going to a month ago.

I'm actually surprised it's still going. The song got boring really quick for me. Unfortunately, I can't think of another song on their album that would even come close to repeating this song's chart run except on the Christian rock chart (where pretty much anything from Skillet charts anyway )

Yeah, listening to this album, I don't know if anything else will do much on Active. Which is a shame when you consider their last era had four top 20 hits, including "Monster" going top 5 and "Awake and Alive" hitting #1.
This song hasn't burned on me too much, believe it or not. It's definitely one of my favorite songs of the year so far.

I don't know why this didn't become a favorite of mine. Usually lead Skillet tracks stay awesome for a while. "Not Gonna Die" is probably the best on the album and the only with a shot at being partially successful I think. It sounds the most like their old material.

Yeah, I could see "Not Gonna Die" going top 20 on Active, at least. It might sound a bit too similar to "Awake And Alive," though.

^What makes you say that? It's just as strong as anything off their last album.
