anyone else agree that this is prolly the most like uncompetitve era in a LONG while on pop radio? It jus seem like every song that's gaining now is mediocre or average...idk...

Yes. This period in Pop music is extremely weak. Thank goodness for brilliant songs like "The Climb", "Second Chance", "Don't Trust Me", and very few others are the only great songs on Pop.

One thing I just realized and like to point out is the fact that ALL of the staple artists on top 40 are doing poorly mediocre right now (Kelly, Britney, Pink) and I don't think that has ever happened...i mean some might say it's a blessing but I think it's leaving radio programers confused...I think Britney desearves the spins. Pink and Kelly are iffy and it's like they made an album with ONE good radio single and then just kinda made the rest not so catchy It seems like today if u wanna be succesful mainstream artist, you need to now make 4-5 CATCHY AS HELL songs on your albums PECIFICALLY for radio....I don't like that but to be sucussful today, that's what it seems like....idk my 2 cents..Either that or it;s just a bad time for radio right now.

CHR Radio's been in a transition period over the last 16 months. It's been weeding out it's huge Urban influence. New PD's have been appointed at stations and it takes time to get used to the job but they have come to the sense that Top 40 radio needs to go back to being a Pop staple radio.
You've got Britney/Kelly/P!nk/Christina all coming back with big Pop singles, but underwhelming and peaking (well sans Brit lol) and it's mostly because Top 40 radio has always been about making new artists big (Katy P; CaCa; ETC) and maintaining their staples. However when your staples are delivering subpar music, it's harder to control a radio market.

Either this is what Jake said or this is the end of radio...everyone is discovering new music online without radios help...aaahhh a new thread topic I just thought of making!

When this generation is over, I'm betting nobody will listen to the radio.
