I wanted to make a thread where everyone can share their 10 favourite songs of the 90s. Here are mine: 10. Natalie Imbrugulia - Torn I heard this song a thousand times back in the 90s and I still love hearing it now. 9. Green Day- Basket Case This is one of my favourite Green Day singles and the best song off their album "Dookie". 8. Tubthumping - Chumbawamba I remember listening to this in my grade 1 gym class and all I could say is that I loved it. I couldn't find this song until recently. 7. Ace of Base - The Sign This is their most popular song to date and was definetely one of the more memorable songs when I was growing up. It's still a great listen today. 6. Mariah Carey - Always Be My Baby.jpg) I got into this song recently and all I can say is that Mariah sounds flawless on this. This is definetely my favourite Mimi song off her best album "Daydream" imo of course . 5. TLC - No Scrubs This song was such a jam back in 1999 I thought that it was the perfect song to roll down my window and blast it in the car. 4. Ace of Base - Don't Turn Around This group was extremely popular at the time and this is my favourite song by them. 3. Shania Twain - You're Still The One This song was extremely emotional for me at the time due to my parents breaking up and in a crazy way, I had this song to kind of in a way keep me together at the time. This is easily my favourite Shania song ever. 2. Britney Spears - Sometimes This song always gave me the goosebumps whenever I heard it ! She sounds so sincere and I remember the exact place where I heard it for the first time. The song has stood the hand of time well imo. 1. No Doubt - Don't Speak I really liked this song at the time and it's one of the few ballads that can get me to tear up. Gwen's vocals are on point and I really think that this has aged well.

01. ...Baby One More Time by Britney Spears
Do we really need an explanation for this? Britney from the minute I heard this song, to this day has always been my #1. She is truly my idol. She has always been my source of inspiration and even though she's not the same person anymore, I will never give up on her. Because in a sense, she never gave up on me. She provided me with so much confidence in her music and just an aura she gave off that truly guided me through my entire life. This song started that movement and it will die with me.
02. Goodbye by The Spice Girls
May 30th, 1998. I rememeber that day. May 30th, 1998. That day haunted my entire childhood and it still did until the girls eventual reunion.. Every year that it came I knew deep down the pain it brought upon me. Lets flashback to November 1997, the day the tickets went on sale for their Spiceworld tour. Its all my 9 year old self wanted for christmas and my grandmother delivered. When I got my tickets on christmas day, i was elated and overjoyed. My aunt informed me that my tickets were in the 5th row from the stage. I think as a child, that moment was my true moment of euphoria. I think you know where I'm going with this. Ginger Spice was my favorite Spice Girl. I think as a 9 year old going on 10 you can say I experienced my first 'stan obsession'. I had her barbie, i had posters, i had a union jack flag in my room, etc. May 30th, 1998. It was a Saturday. I had woken up at my grandparents house, as I stayed there many nights simply because I liked it there. My aunt Janet still lived at home and she was sitting at the kitchen table with my grandma and my mom. I think at age 10 I merely thought my mom was there early to pick me up. This was not the case. I know it sounds ludicrous but I think when they broke the news to me, it was like a part of my died. I remember I ran into the downstairs bathroom and locked myself in and just cried. I locked myself in that bathroom for 3 hours. My grandfather had to literally take the door off the hinges to get me out. I remember May 30th to this day and I think it molded me. I did go to that concert. I was 5th row. My aunt helped me make a sign that said "Bring Geri Back. She's My Hero". I remember going to that concert in my Spice Girls shirt with my union jack flag wrapped around me. I remember those days like it was yesterday.
I also remember the day I first heard this song. It was the day the video premiered on TRL. I remember recording the video on VHS and watching it on repeat for a good 2 hours. I heard the message loud and clear and at age 10, I think it was closure for me in the on going Geri Halliwell saga. I think I got the message when the girls were singing that "We never dreamt you'd go your own sweet way" that maybe I shouldn't hate them anymore. Too bad their follow up album sucked horribly.
03. S Club Party by S Club 7
What can I say about this song? I was OBSESSED with S Club 7 when their show debuted on Fox Family (what is now ABC Family). I still own the VHS tapes where I recorded all the shows episodes and mini tv movies on. I have all their albums, I have most of their singles. This song was really the song I'd listen to if I wanted to be put in a good mood.
04. That Don't Impress Me Much (Dance Mix) by Shania Twain
I can blame my mother for my young love of Shania Twain. She overplayed that Come On Over CD like it was her bible. And because I was all of 9 when it came out, I was in the car with her and I heard that album like it was my religion. This was my favorite song. However, not the album version, the Dance Mix that radio played. I remember when the CD single came out and the only way to get it was on the $9 CD-Maxi, I asked for it for my birthday. Instead my mom bought me the re-release of COO so I could have my own copy and I threw a fit. Then she opened it and put on this and it was the dance mix, yeah can you say salty?
05. Rhythm Nation by Janet Jackson
Now I know this was technically released in October 1989 but this song was not introduced to me until I was the age of 5. Janet Jackson at age 5 was my icon. I was told stories about how I wanted to be Janet Jackson at age 5. My grandmother and aunt still tell me stories about how in order for me to take naps, they'd have to put in the VHS of the Rhythm Nation 1814 movie in or my aunt would have to sit on the couch with me and play the cassette tape in order for me to fall asleep. There's also the stories where I'd steal my grandmothers black high heels and a black t-shirt from my grandpa and a hat and put them on and then put the movie in and do the dance moves with Janet in the living room. Yeah, even at age 5 I was still fabulous.
06. The Boy is Mine by Brandy & Monica
This is another song that brings back memories with me and my best friend. We used to reenact the music video out in her house. I also remember sitting bedside that summer waiting for it to be on what was 106.9 The Point in order to record it to casette. Thank god my mom eventually got me the CD-Single lol.
07. "Lovefool" by The Cardigans
When you think the 90s, to me at least, this is the one song that comes to mind over anything else as needing to make a list by default. The verses are meh but that chorus is killer. I love it still to this day. I couldn't ommit this song even if you paid me to.
08. Show Me Love by Robyn
What can I say? I liked Robyn before everyone else. I am the original hipster. JK. This song was HUGE, or I can remember it being huge when I was a kid. I had the cd single and I overplayed that f**ker. So catchy, so beautiful.
09. The Sign by Ace of Base
This song makes the list purely because of nostalgia. Me and my best friend, who I've been best friends with since age 6, would listen to this song on repeat everyday after school and sing it in the mirror. Ahhh memories.
10. Bitch by Meredith Brooks.
What can I say about this song? I think at age 9 it was more of a rebellion against my mom. She DID NOT WANT ME LISTENING TO THIS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES because of the language. I remember my aunt took me to Sam Goody (LOL REMEMBER THOSE) and she bought me the $3 CDSingle and put the song on repeat for our entire car ride home and sang it along with me. My mom eventually found the single.....4 months later and got pissed, but let me keep it because I'd already had it that long LOL. Ugh good times.

Great lists, guys! I'll work on mine right now. Drag - I love how so many of the songs you love have gone in the CH2H recently. It's really great to see "Basket Case" and "Tubthumping" in your top 10; I didn't know you liked those that much. Just curious, but where did you hear "Sometimes" for the first time? And Jake...those stories are crazy! Especially #2 and #10. I loved your story for #10!

Just curious, but where did you hear "Sometimes" for the first time? I remember being out on a Saturday morning when I was 9 to a few local shops and that's where I remember hearing it. I loved it though I really didn't pay attention to it at the time since I was trying to get home in time to watch Digimon .

Before I start my list, I just want to say that this was SUPER hard for me to put together. The '90s are easily my favorite decade of music and there are literally hundreds of songs that I had to choose from. I feel like this is almost impossible to get right, but I like to think that this is close. There were some songs I thought for sure would be on here (like "Every Morning" by Sugar Ray and "Plush" by STP) that didn't make the cut. So here's my top 10.
10) Candlebox - Far Behind (1994)
If there's one thing I don't like about the '90s, it's that they didn't produce nearly as many good power ballads as the other decades did. Maybe this song is a bit heavy to be called a power ballad, but that's how I think of it.
9) Third Eye Blind - Graduate (1997)
This song was my anthem around the time of graduating high school, and is a song that I will always dig. The funny thing is that it was actually written about male prostitutes.
8) Matchbox 20 - Push (1997)
I have always loved this song, and probably always will. The opening guitar takes you in...and you're there for the entire song. I love this "old" Rob Thomas that sounded more rough (and oddly southern), and the lyrics to this song are deep.
7) Pantera - Cemetery Gates (1990)
This song is incredible...but chances are, you won't like it.
6) Foo Fighters - Everlong (1997)
These guys are one of my favorite bands ever, and this is my favorite song from them. Just an all-around awesome song.
5) Semisonic - Closing Time (1998)
This was one of the first songs I ever liked. I find myself very captivated by the repeating piano in the song, and the guitar solo always hits the spot. And of course, the lyrics and vocals are awesome.
4) Alice in Chains - Nutshell (1994)
I don't know if any song has has quite the effect on me that this one does.
3) Sugar Ray - Falls Apart (1999)
Am I the only person that takes this song seriously? I always did, but now that I relate it to something I take it even more seriously. But you can keep thinking of it as a feel good jam.
2) Fuel - Shimmer (1998)
This is everything I could ask for in a song. I'm usually against songs that are about failed relationships, because I can't take them seriously. This one has no problem with that at all. The chorus in this song is pure GOLD.
1) Green Day - When I Come Around (1995)
There was one thing about doing this list that was very easy, and that was picking my #1. The guitar riffs in this song are one of the main things that made me a music fan. Songs always come and go for me, but this one has always been there as a favorite. I can remember showing this to people in 8th grade (spring of 2005) when everyone (including me) was high on the American Idiot album. I have always thought of this as being the best song of Green Day's career.
....and that's my top ten.

Thanks! Yeah, I love "Cemetery Gates." I feel like it needs to be listened in full to be appreciated (because the opening is amazing). A lot of people just listen to it for the heavy parts, but not me.

Jessie...talk about girl power. Hey guys just wondering if anyone can tell me how to post YouTube links before I post my Top 10 90s/Top 10 All Time etc... Yeah, it's pretty easy. Right above the smileys, there's all the buttons that change the text (like bold and italics). Right below the bold button, there's a button with the youtube logo. Just copy and paste the URL for the video into here, then highlight it, and then press the youtube button.

^That's a good top 10! Here's what I think...
#10 - I love this song...definitely one of the most fun songs ever but I thought it was a 2000 hit.
#9 - I'm not a fan of that song, but I don't hate it.
#8 - If I'm in the mood for this, I love it.
#7 - This song is awesome, and almost made my top 10.
#6 - I only listened to it once (when you posted your other chart), so I don't know how I feel about it just yet.
#5 - Another great song that almost made my top 10.
#4 - Great choice.
#3 - This is a classic for sure, even though I think some of their other songs are better.
#2 - I've always called this the "signature grocery store song." ;D Not bad at all.
#1 - I love this, and I forgot that it came out in 1999.

I'm gonna copy KP and comment on AtlantaBoy's top 10. 10. Not one of their best but I like it. 9. I like Peter Gabriel but I don't really remember that one. 8. LOVE that song. One of my all-time favorites. 7. No. 6. Don't know it, I'll watch the video later. 5. Another amazing song of theirs although I prefer all the DUTG singles (except Broadway). 4. Good song but it's overplayed. My favorite single from that album was Real World. 3. LOVE that song, my favorite on your list! A classic. 2. Great song although it's quite overplayed. 1. Amazing choice for #1, another one of my all-time favorites.
