So I, along with Atlantaboy and a few others, had been complaining about the lack of rock songs crossing over to Hot AC. Well it appears that things are changing pretty quickly. Let's take a look at all of the rock crossovers on Hot AC right now.
8 10 SICK PUPPIES Maybe RMR/Virgin/Capitol 2009 2796 2924 -128
16 14 LINKIN PARK Waiting For The End Warner Bros. 2010 2008 1954 54
19 17 FLORENCE + THE MACHINE Dog Days Are Over Universal Republic 2009 1472 1409 63
20 18 MUMFORD & SONS Little Lion Man RED/Glassnote 2009 1447 1378 69
27 21 MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE Sing Reprise 2010 1007 865 142
33 30 THIRTY SECONDS TO MARS Closer To The Edge Virgin/Capitol 2009 509 464 45
39 34 STONE SOUR Hesitate Roadrunner/RRP 2010 265 242 23
38 37 PHOENIX 1901 RED/Loyaute/Glassnote 2009 257 255 2
47 39 FITZ & THE TANTRUMS MoneyGrabber Dangerbird 2010 200 167 33
That's an impressive group of songs there...I don't ever remember this many on the chart at one time. Granted, most of them are only minor hits being played by a certain number of stations. There are Alt-leaning Hot ACs out there playing Nirvana and whatnot that have no quarrels playing these songs.

^It's there, but it's only so many stations - I kinda think that Indie/Alternative is gonna continue to cross over to HAC in the next couple years (just cause there's so much new stuff coming out), but a lot of stations that target older people are gonna resist it
I think when Alanis and the Goo Goo Dolls first came out a lot of HACs resisted their stuff too cause it appealed to younger listeners back then, but they eventually caved in, so I'm really hoping the same thing will happen in 2012

But what about "Dynamite" going top 5? I think that appeals to adults a lot less than these rock songs....at least I would hope so.

It's really weird now lol - according to a lot of people I've talked to, stuff like Dynamite is fine for adults now, I think cause they "get it", more than they "get" Mumford & Sons, 30 Seconds To Mars, or MGMT - I know, it seems like it would be the opposite though...

^LOL, that's pretty funny. Do you think they "get it" lyrically, or just like the dancey feel that it has to it? I can't relate to a song like "Dynamite" at all.

I'd rather have to go listen to Dynamite than any Mumford & Sons. I know that y'all know that I'm a pop listener; however, I hated Dynamite this past summer and I detest all of Mumford & Son's music. I tried getting into it but it's just so bland, boring, uninteresting and lacks any charm. Dynamite has grown on me to the point where I might humm along once in a blue moon but I could never get through a full Mumford & Sons song . I do like hearing Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance on the format .

And there's where you and I are completely different. I think Mumford and Sons' singles are some of the most interesting and charming we've had in quite some time. Anyone could've sang "Dynamite".

Honestly, I think the average Hot AC listener likes stuff that's simple (musically and lyrically) - I'm thinking Mumford is having the same kind of trouble on HAC that Death Cab had
