Just thinking about it, some people don't consider songs a hit unless they peak Top 10 on the Hot 100 and Top 10 in their respective radio formats. But, when do you call a song a hit?
For me... I would consider a song an overall minor hit if it peaked in the Top 20 on the Hot 100 and had good longevity. There are also other songs that I would consider hits on their respective formats, like pretty much anything from Fantasia & Keyshia Cole. They don't have strong digital sales, but most Urban hits don't unless they're pop hits too. I think there are a lot of different classifications for a hit.

It all depends on the artist, really. What could be a flop for a huge artist would be a big hit for a newcomer.
Usually I'd say top 10/top 20 on their core formats would be a hit.

As long as it fields in the chart, I consider it a hit.
