I just read on Wikipedia that this was the #1 prom song of 1990. The DJ on my Alt station called this song "the quintessential power ballad", which I would agree with. I feel like by the mid '90s, power ballads had become uncool and during the late '90s and early '00s they were even more uncommon. In 2006, bands like Nickelback and Hinder made power ballads cool again. I bet they were influenced by this band/song.
How do you guys feel about this song?

I prefer "18 and Life" myself. Shockingly, that outpeaked this song on Pop. I miss the era when songs like that could become Pop hits. What happened?

AGREED. 18 And Life I own Skid Row's first three albums, which are the only ones that aren't shit (their lead singer Sebastian Bach got fired after the third album Subhuman Race came out and got replaced by some Johnny douche). They are definitely one of my favorite metal bands and Sebastian's voice is absolutely amazing. This is not one of my favorite Skid Row songs but still a great tune nonetheless. Personally, this is my favorite Skid Row song:
