I'm making this thread to talk about instances of rule-breaking we heard on-air.
Today, on WVRX (a classic rock station), they were playing a live version of "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?" by R.E.M. The final line of the song is:
I never understood 'don't f**k with me', uh huh
They played it uncensored. ;D It was of course, awesome.

You can say "bitch" here. I wish there was no FCC here. ;D

The only one of those I heard uncensored on the radio on Joel's list was "Hot N Cold" - both CHR's play it with "bitch" intact. The AC here, however, censors it (they do censor "sex" in "California Gurls" too, and don't play Snoop's rap.)

The AC here censors "sex" in "California Gurls" too Wow that's crazy This is a sweet idea for a thread - don't think I've ever heard any FCC violations though (wish I had) - they're pretty conservative around here (Q100 even censors "pray to a God that I don't believe in" in Breakeven) The rock stations here play "Rockstar" pretty much uncensored (but it's just words like asshole and drug dealer) - Star 94 plays the censored version

They censored "sex"? Wow. ;D And an even bigger wow at them censoring "Breakeven" like that. I guess that down south, that lyric faces some resentment?
I got to hear "Rockstar" uncensored when the rock stations used to play it. The Hot ACs and Fresh FM play the censored version. And is it legal to say "sucks ass" on the radio? Our Alt DJ once read an email that says "Linkin Park's new stuff sucks ass." I didn't think it was okay to say that on the radio.

Easily the most shocking is hearing Pink Floyd's "Money" in its entirety fully intact and uncensored on an AM oldies station. Not even classic rock does that.

Nevermind, I take that back. I once streamed Toronto's Alt station and heard "Down With The Sickness" uncensored. Yikes!

I don't get why he FCC bans songs with one "inappropriate" word (the idea of words being offensive seems arbitrary) but they are okay with slanderous media or downright flight programming? Ok, The 2nd example is refers more to TV...but the point is words are being banned but not certain ideas/concepts (like gratuitous violence) which are more influential than a word.

I agree with you here. They're allowed to show blood and fighting, near-nudity, and other things of that nature. Yet you can't say "shit".

This preceded Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" and Nine Inch Nails' "Closer", both with the F words intact. Of course this was at midnight, and they get CTRC violations like bubble gum, but it's still surprising.

^That's pretty cool that there's no consequence for violating the FCC-type agency in Canada ;D
I need to stream a Canadian rhythmic station and see if they play uncensored 2PAC, Enimem, Ludacris

Some stations around here (Urban and CHR) left Nicki Minaj saying "f**k" on "Bottoms Up" but one station recently started editing it because of complaints.

GRAPHIC I remember a few years ago, I was listening late at night to my local CHR station. They had a history of pushing the envelope but what I heard that fateful night SHOCKED ME. The DJ's were having this "squirting contest" with a few girls in the studio. They were apparenly all naked and you could hear the moaning. I was just shocked a CHR station, of all places, would condone something like that. That's more grotesque than Howard! If I was a few years older I would have filed a complaint. It's just disrespectful. The next day, they had a picture of the winning girl on their website. Her parents must be so proud.

But that is very shocking.

So here's one from the world of television. It was on some really off-beat channel I have (like one of those very local basic cable channels). It was some support group thing called Boys to Men?. They said "shit" and the 3-letter f-bomb, and they went uncensored. Although on cable TV, they can probably get away with both of those (VH1 and Comedy Central said the second of two before).

Up here basic cable channels can get away with saying s**t. But then again, one of our biggest channels used to show The Osbournes uncensored, so what do we care?

LOL! ;D I remember hearing cuss words more often when I was kid, before the FCC crackdown that followed the Janet Jackson Super Bowl incident.

This wasn't a violation, but I couldn't believe it last night lol when I heard "cutting off his balls" from What It's Like/Everlast left uncensored on 99X - it was just kinda shocking I guess ;D

LOL! ;D My Alt station plays that uncensored too. Which is funny, because back when our HACs played it they edited out everything from "chrome 45" to "drugs".
