This is the lead single from his 12th studio album, Hemingway's Whiskey. I think it is about football? Eww.

I think I heard this, but I'm not positive. Everything from this guy is starting to sound the same.
Either he needs to do like Zack suggested and retire, or he needs to just take a really long break. I would hope that he could become like Alan Jackson and start writing his own lyrics.

He just needs a long break. He can take a vacation (anywhere but on the beach) to get inspiration for new material. Because he hasn't had anything very good in the last few years.

LOL @ anywhere but on the beach. When it comes to his beach music, I really like "When the Sun Goes Down". But other than that....it's lackluster at best. I have to say that "Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven" is one of the weakest first singles released by a major country artist in the past few years.

Completely agree with that. "When The Sun Goes Down" had the beachy vibe but it was still really good. Then later on he tried to re-create beachy music like WTSGD and it all sucked. and "Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven" is one of the worst songs ever. period.

I thought "Shiftwork" was pretty edgy for country radio. The way he sings "a big old pile of shiiiiiiii" obviously toys with the idea of a "pile of shit". It really reminds me of "Longview" by Green Day, which says "I smell like shiiiii-" without completing the word. I've heard some rock stations censoring that anyway, though. But yeah, I figured that you would hate that song.

Green Day says "shit" which is why it is censored out. You can clearly tell when you listen to it.

How can I clearly tell? I've never listened to the album version.
Most stations just air it as "shiiiiii" but some censor it completely.
