I really like the video. It plays off of her basic video themes, but its probably her most realistic treatment yet. Whereas You Belong To Me was more comical and Love Story was more romantic. Love the incorporation of the childhood divorce scenes especially. We all know she didn't come from a broken home, but she really sold it there and made me feel like she did.

Perfect video.
Although I wish they had more footage of the "broken home." They just showed the same shot of young Taylor looking away like eight times.

#14 Hot 100 #13 Hot Digital Songs #18 Hot 100 Airplay (Chart run so far: 53-30-18 . ) #14 Hot Country Songs #25 Mainstream Top 40 #34 Adult Top 40 (Debut) #22 Adult Contemporary (Debut) Nice to see this climbing up every genre's ladder at the same time this time. Maybe she can get her airplay more concentrated this time to seize the #1 position?

Yeah, I am a bit surprised by just how fast it's climbing on country radio. If talk near the end of the Fearless era were any indication, country radio's love for Taylor was waning rather quickly, which doesn't seem to be the case at all. At this point, I am hoping for overall stats to look something like this:
Country Radio: #1 Pop Radio: #1-8 (anywhere in that range) Hot 100 Airplay: Top 5 Digital Sales: 3+ million

I don't why you guys are so surprised how fast this is rising on Country. This is the first single from a major artist, the 2nd single will be the real indication if her main format will still support her.

Well if the first single is a hit on her format, I don't see why they'd turn their back on her for her 2nd single.
And Will, where do you see going to on the Hot 100? I find this harder to predict since the song already had it's initial sales burst.

I don't why you guys are so surprised how fast this is rising on Country. This is the first single from a major artist, the 2nd single will be the real indication if her main format will still support her. Perhaps it's because a fairly large portion of individuals were claiming country radio was becoming weary of Taylor (not weary of her single choices, but of Taylor herself). The performance of her first single clearly tells a different story; there is no way country radio would be jumping on a single as quickly as this (what, #13 in like two or three weeks) just because it's the first single from a big name. If this were the case, singles from Sugarland, Reba (who was coming off of a huge #1 and top ten hit), and Rascal Flatts would be experiencing similar strides (but Taylor's just leapfrogging). A certain placement might be automatically expected, but this movement obviously proves there's still quite a bit of interest (especially considering Taylor isn't an artist whose singles always experience huge success on country radio). @lw: I see #3 being her peak on the Hot 100. Her airplay and digital sales are once again ascending together, but I'd think it would be very difficult for her to place within the top two.

I'm only going to say one thing:
Don't assume Reba can just skip diddily climb her way up a la Taylor with 'Turn On The Radio'.
I think its different for Reba since TOTR sounds like a Carrie Underwood sung and its being sung by a 50 year old woman and country veteran.
If anything, I Keep On Lovin You was classic Reba at her best, Turn On The Radio is a dip in the younger direction.
TBH, I love TOTR but I know Reba is basically skirting with this song. Country is weird with Reba, some of Reba's best material has had fleeting chart runs and then some of her less than stellar songs find their way as big hits.
Also, Sugarland is in a different position too. Stuck Like Glue is quite an odd song for them. Its decidedly country, but it also has a Pop-ish hook and a Raggae influence on the middle 8. I think, had they returned with a more traditional song like their previous work, their song would be seeing the same updates Taylor is now, instead of their +800 into the 20s and now a slow climb.

Don't assume Reba can just skip diddily climb her way up a la Taylor with 'Turn On The Radio'. I'm not. In fact, I'm asserting the opposite. I am well aware of Reba's current standing with country radio and with her single itself. My point being, after the huge success (a small "comeback") she experienced with her last album, theoretically she'd be considered a "major" artist on country radio once again. However, clearly, the fact she's rather popular with country radio once again and "Turn On The Radio"is the first single from a new album obviously didn't automatically translate into a glowing reception (the single storming the charts). I'm not referring to the quality of the songs I listed as examples at all, as that is a completely different discussion. I was solely discussing country radio's interest in Taylor, the artist (which still appears to be at a rather high level). Joel argued it was a bit too early to determine country radio's stance with Taylor and that her swift success with "Mine" didn't prove anything (as it was the "first single from a major artist"). He basically implied any song that's a first single from a major artist performs similarly. I was simply pointing out that's not the case at all (for a varying reasons). At the end of the day, I do think the reaction Taylor's first single is getting does prove country radio hasn't tired of Taylor (at least not to any noteworthy extent). Just maybe it wasn't Taylor, but the songs themselves all along.

I think part of the reason its doing so well on Country is that she does have a lot of fans that predominately like country music and with this being BRAND NEW Taylor, they want to hear it a lot on the radio. So there is much more demand for new Taylor music on any format rather than 4th & 5th singles from Taylor when her album had already been out for a year & a half and most of her big fans have already heard the songs 1000 times and won't have as high of a demand to hear them on the radio.
Taylor is still a big act in country music, no doubt. But I still don't think with "Mine", she is back at the top of her game radio-wise. Yes, its gaining a lot on country now, but its because the demand to hear a brand new Taylor song is so high right now. I very likely doubt her next single will have updates that come close to as good as this (unless that is released before the album arrives)

The video kinda annoyed me. Taylor, if you're gonna get married in a music video, you need to do a better job picking the husband than some guy who in a couple years will be struggling to find roles as "Nameless Russian-Looking Gangster Number 4" in the latest starring vehicle for a WWE wrestler. If you want some real arm candy, my phone is always on. On the plus side Taylor with a ponytail is knee-buckling hot. Girls with ponytails really Roger my Hammerstein (if you know what I'm saying) so seeing my future wifey rockin' it was awesome.

I very likely doubt her next single will have updates that come close to as good as this (unless that is released before the album arrives) Well, this goes without saying. How many country artists do you know who can achieve a nearly 1500+ bullet with consecutive singles?
