I actually agree with her on trends being boring, which is why I try not to bandwagon people, and why I usually end up catching the trend either obscenely early or incredibly late because the popularity of things usually puts me off.
But it's also dreadfully ironic too considering a few years ago she was pop's "It Girl".

The cover is indeed gorgeous. Hopefully she has some more urban songs on the album as I want another mutiple format smash ala Rude Boy .

Maybe her being so arrogent is a new way for her to "speak out". Before she had this outrageous style and great pop songs, but had no comment on what she was wearing or the meaning behind her music. So, it came off that she was still this severly manufactured pop star that had no say in where her career was going (see Stan Wars article on Rihanna ). But now, she's talking about her style and music while, unfortunantly, bringing other artists (including her best friend) down. I was hoping she was misquoted or it was just a rumor when it was first reported she was talking bad about other artists, but the Rolling Stone article confirms it. It will bite her in the ass if the album underperforms. Maybe her record label thinks stiring the pot will help boost album sales, but I highly doubt it (see Bionic Massacre)

Being out spoken won't stop her from being seen as a corporate puppet. Releasing innovative, different, and non-trendy (her words), music will.

I feel like there's nothing that really defines who she is. Except her haircut in 2007 and getting beat up I feel like if she's going to make a comment like that, she better have music out there that can support that. If she said this when Umbrella come out, that I would have been behind. Maybe there will be something innovative on the album, but she should save her comments until then.

Rihanna is more or less like Lady Gaga in that sense that we really dont know who exactly she is. She goes from look to look, style to style, and changes every era. But do really know who the real Rihanna is behind on these facades?

It looks fake to me. Especially since Gaga is on it LOL. I think Gaga is at the point in her career now where she wouldn't work with other artists unless it was something special. And a song called Broken Heels since likes a typical generic Rihanna album track Plus David Guetta and Stargate being executive producers? What? And I think the people who discovered her (Rogers and Sturkens) are like contractually listed as executive producers on all of her albums anyway too and they're not here.

Have you guys noticed in like interviews, she keeps downplaying Who's That Chick, the way she keeps trying to make sure people know how it's not on her album, and how it's so "generic". Well Whats My Name and Only Girl ain't that unique either Like it or not, it's still kind of a single for her, because it's helping create more buzz for her than David Guetta, and it's kind of insulting to David too to keep harping about it.

I've been liking a lot of David's productions lately. I liked Sexy Bitch, Commander, and now Who's That Chick.

When/Where did I say it was too pop? I think I said it was kind of sugary, but I can tolerate it. And I think I like it better than What's My Name right now
It's weird how she said it was generic too, because I think it's definitely different from all of David's mainstream singles so far (When Love Takes Over, Sexy Bitch, Commander, Getting Over You, I Gotta Feelling, etc)
