I don't know if Wmz was iconic so much as it just brought Britney back to the popstar she had recently fallen from but it also did so much more. I kind of think of it as her tool to legendom in a way. It was obviously just supposed to be used as a huge clean up job for the Gimme More incident. In that line of thought it isn't so much iconic so much as it was damage control. But the response to it, what it accomplished, and what it meant to Britney's career is so much bigger than just that.
I think it worked so well that it transcended what it was originally meant to do. Say what you will but Wmz was so much more than just a "hit", it's probably her biggest global hit since the likes of Toxic. It did more than just bring her back (A MATM/Lucky kind of hit could have done that), it put her back on top so to speak and I think also cemented her as a legend in a way and really made her able to reach that level of stardom/peak career wise that was just out of her reach with 'Zone'.
It basically did what GM was supposed to do.

Nice way to back yourself up How are Gimme More and Womanizer iconic? Womanizer especially? It was the "real comeback" and it was also her first major hit since Toxic. When I think of late 2008 music wise, I think of "Single Ladies", "Just Dance" and "Womanizer". Right it was her comeback single, but I don't think the song made as much impact as her comeback itself..whereas if you take someone like Mariah Carey and WBT, WBT lends itself better to being a more iconic moment and probably has equal footing. I think Single Ladies is the only song of those three to have held up. Everyone forgot Just Dance too

I actually think that Wmz was what made her comeback so successful. Had Wmz not done anything Circus wouldn't have been a "comeback anyway". Wmz is pretty much the representative for the entire Circus era, even though Circus and If U Seek Amy were hits in it's own right as well.

I think Wmz will be looked upon better with age. And the "It's Britney Bitch" line will be remembered, it was a cult classic, that was pretty big when it first came out, kind of like "I'm bringing sexy back" no one says it any more but everyone knows what it means, and who said it and what it meant at the time. So I do think it left an imprint. Gimme More will also be remembered in general for her breakdown and the VMA performance for better or worse, so I do think that GM is memorable just for all the wrong reasons. Wmz though I think will be remembered and will be one of her classics, it's her biggest hit since the digital era, it was a huge hit in Europe and pretty sizable stateside as well, and I think it will age really well mostly because of how under produced it is (which will aid it and break it apart from the over produced dance works that will date the late 00's) and because it is looked at as the song that brought her back so to speak. OIDIA most certainly is iconic, it's pretty much one of the staples of the teen pop era, that along side with Britney's VMA performance and the red cat suit. Very iconic. The images, controversy, and change in Slave 4 U will also surely be remembered in the Britney Spears chronology. Just because it wasn't a "hit" doesn't mean it wasn't iconic. As to Beyonce and her baby, I think it would be wise to cancel the album. Otherwise she will most likely have her first "under performing" era. There is no way she is going to be able to promote her album as strongly as she always does. She nearly flopped with B' Day (if not for Irreplaceable) and that was with her going full force. How could she be expected to sell an album without her putting forth her usual ten-thousand percent mentality. Beyonce sells because she hocks her material at every avenue/chance she gets. The Beyonce stans need to realize that Beyonce's arsenal that keeps her so successful is her no nonsense attitude towards promoting her material in every way and format possible. Not because everyone just needs a fix of Beyonce. I feel like you could maybe make a case for GM based on the VMA performance, but it seems like that event was really part of a bigger entity, and that her breakdown really overshadowed the music. So , I would say her breakdown was her iconic moment of that era, but the culmination of all the events, not necessarily any one single event. And I agree about Beyonce, I don' think she can focus with a baby. She seems like the type to give her all, and I think she'd want to focus on the baby. And it's funny to think how she might have had a so-so career or at least been not as A-List if Irreplaceable hadn't saved the day

I would say the Blackout era in general seemed to be associated with Britney's breakdown. So it makes sense to loop Gimme More with that kind of "iconic" moment in Britney's career. Britney's Blackout album will always be associated with her breakdown, and Gimme More is iconic for showing us the Britney who was very much on the edge. So I think it is iconic for the VMA performance and because I think it is commonly seen as the song that pretty much defines that period of her life. Which is probably why Britney will never want to perform it live again.
Beyonce needs to sit down and just have her baby, and wait like a year or two before putting out this album.

Because like you comparing Breakaway or My December to perfect pop albums such as FS/LS, Britney fans compare everything to her but downplay everyone else who isn't Britney Spears.

So she's not pregnant. It must have been a slow day in entertainment news for something like that to blow up Goofy joke of the day I read on twitter: Beyonce is pregnant, but it's not Jay-Z's. It's Destiny's child. ;D

No, I doubt she would do that. She's talk about wanting children before and enjoying her nephew.

I don't think Beyonce would abort a baby either. But I do believe she would do everything possible to not conceive in general. I really don't believe Beyonce wants to have children. She is too work oriented for her to take the time to actually have a child. 9 months, would be like 12 years to her.

The DVD comes with A CD too, that's the part I'm most interested in since I love her live arrangements. Plus, fake claps are usually lessened or removed live Sweet Dreams isn't going to be on the CD though I wonder if she hates that song or something cause she didn't even perform it regularly on the tour
