Christian dance pop anyone? Yes...the horrible trend of hashtag song titles has hit Christian music. Kill me now please. I'm of the belief that if you include a hashtag in your song, you deserve to be dropped from your label because it's just so stupid Besides that, the song title sounds like an alcoholic drink to me It actually stands for 'Love in the open'. The song isn't really that good to me....I just had to post it because it uses both a hashtag and a funny acronym. The one YouTube comment that calls 'Lito' the Christian YOLO is hilarious

I agree with you that hashtags in song titles are stupid. I'll also agree that Lito sounds like an alcoholic drink. ;D As for this being the Christian YOLO, that's just hilarious. The lyrical theme doesn't strike me as "Christian" whatsoever. Especially the part about "only living once," which doesn't acknowledge the Christian belief that there is an afterlife. Sometimes it surprises me what qualifies as Christian music.

I think with the only living once they are either 1. Taking the more Christian route about it and being like "live for Christ in this life because you only live on earth once, or 2. Trying to sound relevant with YOLO, which is the more likely of the two in my opinion.
The reason I've really fallen away from listening to Christian rock like before is partially because of what does qualify as Christian music. Of course not every song should become Christian CHR because that format is even worse when it comes to generic sounds & lyrics, but a lot of what is called "Christian" music is really just music played by groups with Christian members anymore. That's really why formats play them. In the last few years it's just gotten worse. I personally can't think of the last time a song hit big in the Christian realm that didn't either sound like everything else or actually had some solid lyrics.

I think using the YOLO concept in Christian music is probably a bad idea. You have the mainstream audience already listening to people like Drake, Ke$ha and Nicki Minaj, who use that attitude, so why would they want to hear a watered down version? On top of that, they are watering down their own message for the Christian audience.
What lyrical themes would you like to hear on Christian radio? I understand your frustration with the current state of things. By the current logic, all a band like Chevelle would need to do is get on a Christian label and they would be good to go on the Christian rock format.

For some reason I'm thinking Chevelle may have actually had a Christian rock hit before...but I could be totally wrong and mixing up someone else. What I'd personally like to hear are songs with a real message or some great emotion. Nowadays most tracks released to this format are incredibly generic (especially lyrically....most of the big releases keep to the same general theme...just look at Skillet) and the lead singers usually sound very bored, especially in the actual rock sounding songs. I know that the lyrics are probably going to be the last thing to change on this format, so what I really want to hear first is some ingenuity in the actual music of the song. Most of the charted material runs together and sounds like one continuous song. I'd like to see Christian artists stop caring so much about that possible mainstream crossover hit and focus on making solid material. Also as a side note: I can't get over the ridiculousness of this song's title Every time I see it I feel like going to a bar and seeing if they serve Litos

#LITO!!!! jajajaja That has to be one of the funniest titles for a song lol I think it had a little potential, but they kept repeating the same lines and music. I think this is weak, but not completely horrible.
