Impressionable gays and pop lovers stand up! Gaga has changed all her twitter stuff, deactivate the Jo Calderone twitter account and is f**king around with fans on FB and twitter through her friends FB's and twitters.
THE ARTPOP SINGLE IS COMING. AT SOME POINT. THIS YEAR. MAYBE.

This may be the song instrumental. Tara (gags's BFF and makeup artist) uploaded this video of Gaga getting her septum pierced with that music in the background and then ARTPOP and 8/19/13 on the video.

I like the whole nerdy technology theme she's displaying. I can't wait.

For some reason it reminds me of "Teenage Dream"'s cover if it were done by nerds.

Van Lamsweerde and Matadin shot the “Applause” video about a week ago in Los Angeles. The photographers, who were introduced to Gaga when they shot her first V cover in 2009, have since worked on several fashion films for her. This is the first time they’ve shot a music video for her. Gaga chose the cover image from the video shoot because she thought it showed a different side of her performance, a vulnerable part that the public doesn’t often see. “It’s the end of the night after the show,” she says. “When I look at it I see that there is a longing for the applause. I see that there is a void that is leaking onstage, that the performer is leaking, that the art is sort of becoming something else in front of your eyes. Something more human, something more honest.” Gaga recalls being moved to tears during this particular performance for the cameras. As for the music, details are at a premium, but despite the tears and pantomime face, “I’ll tell you that it is very fun,” she says. “And that it’s full of happiness, because what I’m saying in the song essentially is that I live for the applause. I live for the way you cheer and scream for me. Give me that thing that I love. Put your hands up, make them touch.” At this point, it sounds like she’s quoting lyrics, but again, we won’t know until Aug. 19, barring a leak. Gaga wrote “Applause” with DJ White Shadow, with whom she’s collaborated for five years. “In my heart of hearts as I was writing, I knew that if I asked [the fans] to cheer for me before I sang or if I alluded to the fact that they would cheer for me before I sang....They do that all the time for me; before I even open my mouth, the fans start cheering for me. And so this exclamation, ‘Give me that thing that I love. Give it to me. I’m ready, start the music.’ I’m from New York. I’ve worked since I was a five-year-old to be a performer. All my life. I deserve to be here. I’m ready.” Again, could these be lyrics? The full interview (it's really long): www.wwd.com/eye/people/lady-gaga-im-every-icon-7068388

This song isn't anything new or spectacular. When she said this record was going to be completely different from Born This Way, I expected some growth and transition away from the jarring EDM. You could throw this on Born This Way and it would fit fine.
The only worthwhile part is the chorus and even that is run of the mill GaGa.

I'd say this would fit more on The Fame then Born This Way tbh.

I like it, it has a new wave vibe to it. People who aren't familiar with my chart were surprised to see Katy Perry. Imagine what they'll think when they see GaGa.
Also, boo to iHeartRadio for putting their voice over this like it's 2004.

I'm gonna need someone to give this bitch a Xanax and a Ritalin. Her self-deprecating antics are getting really over the top and too much.
When you look at it, she really is a cult leader. She has her "Followers" and now she's using reverse psychology to get people to buy her shit? I can't. I am never going to be able to like her again until she cuts her super pretentious, fake insecurities and overall narcissistic attitude out.
The woman makes pop music. She is not Ghandi, she is not God. She did not create air and EDM music. I am sick of it.

I will agree with you about the lyrics, especially this line: "Pop culture was in art, now art's in pop culture, in me". Give me a break. Leave this to Bono.

And she's singing the verses like she's a David Bowie clone.

And she's singing the verses like she's a David Bowie clone. That 80's influence is what makes this song work, I just wish she didn't try to pass it off as her own sound.

It's ok, but nothing special. I do find the lyrics to be a bit dull though. She makes herself out to be a hero and savior, but she really just lives for the applause?

Horrible one of her worst songs and that includes her early demos. And the fact she rush released this and those tweets about destroying itunes and get streaming points just proves all she cares about is chart position and money. A mess.

Ugh when I first heard the lyrics they were such a turn off. I really don't like when artists talk about loving the fame & stuff like that, even if they don't mean it in the way it comes off. Also, can anyone understand what the heck she is saying in the chorus? There's like 3 different lines going on there and impossible to decipher. Other than that I actually do like it...although I don't understand why she thinks she's super innovative. This sounds like something that would've been on The Fame.
