Suprised no one has started a thread on this yet! This album is quote solid, imo. It is quite a departure from their debut, which was not good at all imo. People are calling them a "rock band", especially after "We Are Young" hit #1. But throughout the album, I'm finding obvious elements of hip hop, with looped instrumentals and vocal samples. It actually reminds me of the Born To Die album, in that sense. I don't know if it's now a trend, but it definetly is hip-hop infused rock. They also rely heavily on Auto-Tune - for effect....but in certain cases, not :/ ... which is a downgrade. But overall it's a pleasant album, both lyrically, vocally, and musically. I suggest if you sorta kind liked the Lana Del Ray album to check this out because it's ten-fold better.

Now that you've heard the album, do you think they will have another hit this era ?
We Are Young sounds like a one hit wonder to me.

From what I've absorbed, yeah, We Are Young will most likely be the only mainstream hit off this album. I think the best canidate for a second single is the album's title track "Some Nights". They'll probubly follow a Foster The PEople type fate. One big mainstream hit, and afterward, strong alt support with additional singles.

I have only heard "We Are Young" and "Some Nights" so far, and they leave me with little desire to check out the rest of the album. While I understand their appeal to the masses, with me personally those songs just don't get the job done.
