I wonder if this is the direction she's going with for her next album. Maybe Max Martin will try to dive into the realm of country experimental!

This is Aldean's best song in a very long time. His last album was just alright. Only really good song on it was "Big Green Tractor" and that wasn't all that great.

Jason Aldean's Duet With Kelly Clarkson Stands OutThere are so many things Jason Aldean does well. Small-town anthems, party tunes, rural barn burners and even shout-outs to muscadine wine. But now he has a new gift: songs that make your knees go weak. I've never heard anyone give such a convincing argument for staying the night, like he does on his smoldering duet with Kelly Clarkson. The song's called "Don't You Wanna Stay" and his voice has never sounded sexier on lines like "When a goodbye kiss feels like this" and "We can make forever feel this way." His vocals are just so well-suited to her husky pleas to not just make love but to make love last. On top of the way they sing together, the gorgeous piano and orchestral strings make this track stand out from the more country-rock arrangements on his new album, My Kinda Party, (Nov. 2). Even Aldean admits he sounds good. "There are some big songs on here, but I also feel like my voice was in the best shape to deliver them. ... You can't exactly phone in a duet with Kelly Clarkson because she has those huge pipes," Aldean has said.

Do you think Carrie was trying to diss Kelly? Or were they just trying to keep up the element of surprise? Her vocals sound great, just like the album version

Kelly was announced to be performing for like two weeks. Plus, she was promoed during the actual show multiple times.
Carrie just forgot or got flustered. Not that I'm sticking up for Carrie since I hate that bitch

Country music superstar Jason Aldean stunned audiences with a powerful vocal performance featuring global pop star Kelly Clarkson when the 2010 CMA Awards aired on ABC last night. Aldean and Clarkson performed the soulful ballad “Don’t You Wanna Stay” from his newly released album MY KINDA PARTY. Due to a flood of requests from radio stations across the country, Aldean’s label, Broken Bow Records, has made the song available on PLAY MPE.
“If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my years in the record business, it is always give radio what they want,” said SVP Promotion Carson James. “Our entire promotion staff has spent all night fielding calls and returning texts about getting this song, so we decided it best to release it on Play MPE first thing this morning.”
Debuted #93 on Billboard 100 Debuted #58 on Digital Songs Debuted #59 on Country songs

The Next “Need You Now”[/b] It was a year ago this week that Lady Antebellum performed “Need You Now” on the Country Music Association (CMA) awards show, and we all know what happened after that. Fun fact…the song went top 10 in seven other countries beside the United States. I can’t think of a country artist that has done something close to that since Shania Twain ruled the pop and country charts in the late 1990s/early 2000s. In the music business, it’s all about finding the next (fill in the blank). So where do you go when you have a country song that becomes such a smash that it goes 4x Platinum on sales of well over 4 million singles? I’ve been wrong before, but my money right now is on the next single from Jason Aldean’s fourth CD My Kinda Party entitled “Don’t You Wanna Stay”. And go figure, the song was performed on the CMA awards this past week… I’ve been a fan of Jason Aldean’s way back since “Hicktown,” but it was “Amarillo Sky” that cemented the idea that this guy could connect with a country song with some depth. It is very clear that Aldean connects with “Don’t You Wanna Stay,” and big props to him for having the vision to ask Kelly Clarkson to take a song written for a solo artist and turn it into a killer duet. While I don’t know if this song will go worldwide, I don’t think it’s a big stretch to hear this song on Adult Pop stations, with an outside chance of Top 40 stations coming along for the ride. I saw the song get as high as #18 on iTunes, but it currently sits at #31. The arrangement from the live performance buried almost every trace of “country” in the song, allowing the song to stand on its own as a well-written and well-sung song. You can call it country, country pop, modern country, whatever. At the heart of the song, it’s a pop song, and I mean that with as much respect as I can gather. Let’s see how John the Swami does this time around. popmusicnotes.com/2010/11/14/the-next-need-you-now/
